How about them rookies in Detroit. Got that team playing competitive hockey most nights.
- Feds91Stammer

Yeah Detroit looked to of improved a fair amount again this season. 1 point out of wild card currently.

As you know already I have Larkin and Bertuzzi on my fantasy team but I also added Hronek a few weeks ago and he's been decent for me as well...I was going to snag Raymond but my bro did before I could. They've all done well for me, especially Larkin, but Bertuzzi has cooled off a fair bit. In an 18 team league with a day wait for roster moves, you have to hold on to guys even through cool down periods haha... there's just not many free agents left this time of season with so many teams in the league and all the injuries and covid on the go.

Bertuzzi has no puck luck right now. Had 8 shots against Buffalo the other night. Could have easily had 4 goals.

And I hear you dude. I’m holding on to Daigle 2.0 because there’s nobody better to pick up.

He's done a great job with them (team). So far, defensively speaking, Johnny Hockey's stats are insane compared to his other seasons. He even basically said in an intermission interview last night that he and everyone else were buying into what Sutter was selling.
- MattStrat

Which stats? He had 84 (24-60-84 in 80 GP) and 99 (36-63-99) point seasons...on pace for 93 (33-60-93) this season. Are you talking +/-?

"So far, defensively speaking..."

So far this season all of his underlying 5 on 5 numbers are career best and yes, you can also toss +/- in there if you want, because besides one other season he played 82 games in and was +18, he's +14 through only 22 games.

I figured it was a rookie playing in a weird (frank)ed up season and he would breakout this year. He’s certainly no Lucas Raymond.

He could track the same as Puljujarvi who also struggled mightily and is at least now tracking like a decent scoring middle-six winger. Everyone was throwing the Generational Talent moniker on him and generally expectations of a generational talent is to hit the ground running which he clearly hasn't.

I hardly think Lemieux is merely a figurehead here. But I admit I'm not nearly as close to the workings of this deal as you are apparently.

CBJ a big surprise, no doubt. The Metro so far looks to be the closest in standings...and look who's currently dead last in it? I cant see them staying there all season...battle indeed.
- MattStrat

I know they've been wrecked by injury and Covid, but perhaps letting Eberle go was one guy too many for even Trotz to cover over.

It maybe put too much pressure on them to play him in the NHL before he was ready.

Not really concerned about the loss last night. Those games happen all the time where one team is laser focused from beginning to end. The Pens did that to the Islanders recently. Calgary was extremely impressive "systematically". Pens had zero room to operate.

Calgary's size was a problem for the Pens. They were draped (legally) all over our smallish forwards and didn't give them an inch. They dominated the boards and the center of the ice. I kept thinking the D needs to take shots and the forwards need to get to the net. But the D didn't have enough time to shoot and our forwards got out muscled.

What can you say about Jarry. Just a stellar year for him so far. Team MVP.

Poolparty was also not a consensus number one pick and had to adjust to NA hockey.

I know one thing.... Eberle killed the Penguins routinely. So glad to see him gone.

Even though he had a good playoff run dumping Eberle to keep Palmieri was stupid.

Thats quite possible I guess, but while I think it was a mistake to let Eberle go overall, I still think Trotz is best coach in league and just the loss of Eberle wouldnt result in them ending up in dead last at the 1/4 mark.

Hopefully the Pens can entice some FAs with front loaded contracts that can be dumped easily when the actual salary is lower in the later years, or be able to take on guys that have larger salaries than their cap hits now that we have ownership with deeper pockets willing to take a loss when necessary
