Romanov still goes for the big hit too often putting himself out of the play but otherwise I've liked watching his game settle in a bit - Takemedrunkimhome
I like his effort.
And at times I think he goes for the big hit to try to get a boost to his team, and that does not always work out well.
(Subban did that all the time.)
But this kid works hard, always ready to practice, always working on improving.
And it has shown as this season progresses.
Just needs to play and learn when to take those big hit chances. |

I don't understand why they keep Caufield with the team at this point.
Played 12 minutes last night, was benched after a turnover (God knows there are others on this team who are guilty of it regularly but don't get that treatment), sees limited powerplay time.
This is not how you develop a player. They need to send him down. Hopefully the new management is bright enough to understand that. - stinger67
here's my theory: Ducharme wants to get fired. he wants to extricate himself from this mess without completely wrecking his future prospects but he also wants his $$ security. nothing else makes sense.

just waiting for Hoffman and Byron to be back, Caufield will then go to Laval.
and Norlinder to Sweden once Edmundson returns. |

I don't believe in hiring the same skillset each time but if I'm bringing in somebody with minimal to no relevant experience I'm not giving them one of the top jobs. Why should those below that position respect a person who has less experience than they do in the relevant field giving them marching orders. I believe in putting people in a position to succeed and allowing them to grow from there, not putting them in a top position and essentially saying sink or swim. I'm an egalitarian but you've gotta earn it...no handouts for anybody - Takemedrunkimhome
What you are saying then, based on potential candidates mentioned here and in the press, you would not hire a GM.
Because the candidate you want, based on the above, does not exist.
Edit: also, based on my years of hiring, you rarely ever find an ideal candidate. You mostly find one that you hope / believe can grow into the role, with guidance. |

Some experience vs no experience is what you're ignoring in my statement. Not being GM but having experience working in a pro hockey team's management group is relevant experience |

And you equate running the women's National team as no experience.
But someone babysitting and ECHL team as relevant experience.
That is where we differ. |

In relation to running a men's pro hockey franchise? I view that as quite minimal in terms of how they relate |

Fundamentally, the skillsets are similar.
When you go from company A to company B, the job and how things are done are often vastly different.
But the skillsets are similar.
Experience in managing the national team is experience in managing a team - yes, different challenges, different ways of doing business.
But fundamentally, the same skillset.
So you pick between someone that understands the fundamentals of running a team or you pick someone that has never run a team but knows a little bit about part of the business.
That is the decision the Habs are looking at making.
Like it or not.
It is what it is. |

They are not at all similar. Resigning players? Trades? Free agency? Dealing with grown men who are multimillionaires?
If the person running the women's program was a man they wouldn't be under consideration.

If this Gorton dude is gonna run the show, they need to hire someone with zero experience.
Then he can mold and shape the GM how he wants, no bad habits, no ego clashes, etc.
That's how I hire people..

Patrick Roy n’était pas sur la glace ce matin pour l’entraînement des Remparts. Mais il a rencontré la presse et a confirmé son intérêt pour le poste de DG du Canadien. Il dit ne pas avoir été appelé jusqu’à maintenant. #lesoleil
