meh, if the GM constantly speaks to the media while Gorton quietly sits in the background we'll all have the impression the GM is making the decisions, while it might not be the case. anyways I doubt he would be a complete puppet, but someone with not that much experience will surely be strongly influenced by a guy like Gorton, which might not be such a bad thing after all.

sure. like I said, MB had 0 GM experience. that didn't prevent him from making all the decisions from day 1.
the next guy will have the luxury to have Gorton to challenge him, to advise him. but again that doesn' mean that he won't be in charge and accountable for the decisions he will make.

Just because someone is given direction on direction and strategy, that does not make them a puppet.

Otherwise, pretty much everyone here is a puppet.

yep, and Molson said that too. that he should have provided MB with some help, a senior adviser. basically what Gorton will do, among other things.
