Fletcher was excellent. Gave an update on all injured players, talked about how bad the PP has been since the 2014-2015 season and why (he believes its due to 1. bad zone entries and 2. lack of players with true scoring ability from the flanks; so its a personnel issue) and talked about how bad the team has looked these past 10 games versus how well they played the first 10 games. It was very insightful, you should be able to catch a replay on youtube. - jd250
Soo he blamed himself, he went out and got all the wrong players .... |

I'm as frustrated as anyone about where this team is right now, but I don't know how any serious hockey fan can watch Fletcher's presser today and walk away with the idea that this guy should be fired. Its delusional to think this. Fletcher is on top of things, that is what came across to me. He has the pulse of the team, the players, the coaches and the overall organization. I'm sorry if the facts he conveyed today did not match your own personal agenda's, but to me, he is right. We have to get this team back and see what we have before he decide what to do next. There is still plenty left in the season for the Flyers to turn this around. - jd250
The problem is there are always going to be injuries. Excuses excuses. The injuries do not explain the lack of effort. And to me that is what is hurting us the most. If we came to play hard every game, we would have a better record regardless of whos hurt

The effort has been there. They have not played well over this past 10 game stretch. Fletcher acknowledged that compared to the first 10 games of the season the team regressed in a lot of areas. But they did play much better the first 10 games, so why not see where they go from here. They clearly can play better than they have this past 10 games, they have already proven that. - jd250
You are kidding right?

Huh, my takeaway is he said what we already know.
Today's event was a waste of time and does nothing. My opinion is stop talking and do something.

He gets it? He had assets to trade including Jake Voracek and high draft picks. Why didn't he bring in the personnel needed? - MJL
Jake? Assets?
Jake had a albatross around this neck that was his contract, the fact that Fletcher was able to unload him anywhere and get anything back for him was a miracle! |

Here's the likely outcome of the season. They may bounce back and play 500 hockey. They get Hayes and Ellis back. They play their way back into shape and have a couple solid and meaningless months of decent hockey and they finish 7 points out of the playoffs. See how close they were. They win another moral victory Cup! |

I have seen a lot of faults with this team this season, but lack of effort has not been one of them IMO. |

No, he stated today he has been trying to address this through the draft because these types of players are hard to come by externally. Clearly Foerster, who is now pretty much out of the season with a shoulder injury, was one attempt at this. |

So when McEwen is our best player over several games. Thats because he is much more skillful? Or why would you think that would be?

I think there is a difference between playing with confidence versus playing with effort. I think the team is trying from what I am watching, but clearly not playing with confidence. What is typical is when this happens, the player on the team who is responsible for firing people up is more noticeable. |

The craziest thing I’ve noticed about AV is his teams do not dominate. As in they never dictate play. They don’t drive play. Even when they were decent 2 years ago they still looked avg at best.
They simply don’t pass the eye test as a team that can’t drive play and dictate the pace.
I fire him as much for their alarming play when they were good. I just don’t see it.
They don’t need a rebuild. They need the correct structure and a bloody decent pp.
Also Hexy was a great player and person, but absolutely 0 ability to delegate here. A terrible manager of people and resources. Tough to critique his moves when he did not make any. The pain that we saw in his eyes as a player while losing simply was not there as a GM. He should have cut a check at the end of each year to each season ticket holder for asking them to invest in his nonsense. That guy would take a bullet for his team as a player and acted with 0 courage as a GM. 0 |

Better than the disaster they currently are? Sure. However they did not play well overall. - MJL
For those listening carefully, Fletch acknowledged that they didn't have the puck enough and were getting out-chanced even when they were playing "better".
Too bad knowing what's wrong is a hell of a lot easier than actually being able to fix anything. |

I thought that stretch of 30 games 2 years ago, they looked awesome. They could've beat anyone they played. They were rolling, but the players haven't bought in to playing like that since.
