Benning might even have done a decent job if they had started with an experienced President of Hockey Ops to stop him from making all those stupid mistakes.

I will say that I see EP as more of a winger than a centre. I think that is part of the issue this year. Get a high pick and a true centre thus year and move EP over to LW.

Edit: I also saw some Mocks having us take this Simon Nemec. RHD, 6'1" nearly 200LBS. Reading up on him, seems like a good pick so far.

I’m amused by the “Petey wants to play for a winner” narrative. If you asked every player in the locker room if they wanted to play for a winner, do you think Pettersson would be the only guy to say yes? Would Miller (the Alpha) say “no, I love this team, we’re doing great, I love it here”?

I agree. The kid is a stud and when he was on he was very exciting to watch. He still has that ability but his desire to perform at that high level has been eroded due to TG's horsepoop coaching approach and methods.

I think the stars are aligning for another Cam Neely like situation. If EP is traded this season, it will be something the fans will regret for decades to come.

I like both of those players as well. Still not my "build a team around guys" Point is great and Kuch is amazing. Comparing Petey with Kuch though... multiple 100 point seasons for him. Petey while a good player, is no Kucherov. And that might be this fan bases problem, overrating him and the pressure that creates.

Since Petey was drafted only Makar has a higher PPG and even a year before Matthews

My Petey is a 70ish point L1 winger / L2 Center. Good on PP , doesnt kill penalties, not on last minute holding a lead.
Hughes is similar 50ish point dman d with the same qualities.
