I'd go into why Montreal struggles with free agents but I'd rather ask, why does it matter if he speaks french? It's his life. He is the one who will likely encounter challenges due to the language barrier and he seems willing to accept that, why is that so offensive? - Takemedrunkimhome
Well one thing is that when they privatised Air Canada some of the conditions was that the head office and the maintenance of the planes would stay in Montreal. In both cases they really (frank)ed us over. |

I'm not as concerned with the opening day roster being "good" as it making sense from a long term perspective but lore or less the same - Takemedrunkimhome
Yeah, I think we are saying the same thing.
I don't need next October's roster to be "good". Just saying looking at all transaction between now and October should give us an idea of what kind of team he is trying to put together and how he is going about it. So by opening day, we can look more critically at the job he is doing.
Looking at each transaction in a vacuum, whether perceived good or bad, really won't tell is much. |

That has literally nothing to do with the guy not learning to speak french but living in Montreal. It sucks but apples and goldfish |

The other condition was the respect of both official languages. Air Canada has one of the worst track records when it comes to official languages and on top of that you name a CEO that can't even say toaster in french |

a few more games like that from Jake Allen and Josh Anderson and they might be pretty valuable trade commodities

When potential off-ice action is more exciting than any upcoming on-ice action...
I think bears hibernate because they were fans of a team that sucked for too long and they were like ... (frank) it. |

These are teams that were hiring these guys trying to find a quick fix. There was no process involved other than trying to find a guy they thought could turn it all around in their own. That never works no matter who you hire. |

That's exactly how air canada sees it.
You can also hire someone from El Savador to clean your house, then have her wax your Richard but it's not cheating because your Richard is technically in the house. |

yeah....
I wouldn't mind hearing the name of someone who has actually been a GM before and has some experience running a team that has some pretty significant challenges...
I kinda don't need to hear about Daniel Briere and Caroline Ouellete at this stage.... |

He did very well in school, had an option to get his MD and he's married to one. He's been completing an MBA, I have a feeling he's the best guy on the short list. |

I've always found a good lawyer is like a good accountant, worth their weight in gold. Semantics.
Just saying, the phrase respect both official languages is pretty (frank)ing vague. I'd be much more pissed about the lost commerce/industry |

The last time I flew AC, they did the safety demo live in English, then turned on a recording of the French version.
Would that be another example?
