Fully admit myself as a doubting thomas, with a shade towards on the fencers. More of a Quinn not as good as Rossi for me, less to do with Quinn being a talent in his own right. I'll own it, was wrong (so far, long careers ahead for both)
- SDSabre

they're both allowed to be good. what matters is that Quinn doesn't turn into a pud and Rossi becomes a steady top 6 C

Jesus, right?

Bruins having buyers remorse. Maybe they'll pay US to take him back.

I'll take Brandon Carlo 😉

- Powerslave

He has a full NMC. It's possible he would only accept a trade here (he liked it here). If they got him for future considerations I'd mark that as a W

Rossi is getting pounded lets see what kind of a career he has. If he doesn't learn to avoid contact he isn't going to have a very long one.

Supposedly they matched the Bruins offer but he moved on
- Hank Balling

was it? I thought I read/heard that the money and term, especially the term, was outmatched by Boston.

I'm pretty sure they offered to match but he, like the big 3, was not keen on rebuild part 7

Damn I hate to say next year because its always next year but add Quinn, JJ and Krebs along with Powers and Samuelsson and we have a playoff team

The thing for me is Quinn is doing what he was drafted for in scoring goals... where rossi just seems to be guy on the team setting up others to score. if players were reversed i wouldnt be as excited.

If Adams doesn't solve that issue he shouldn't have a job

I like to think it's a big reason he was chosen over Rossi. Go ahead and count the goal scoring prospects in the pipeline. Shouldn't take long.

It's so (frank)ing easy to get a decent goalie. UFA or trade. They're easy to come by, if you're trying.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic but easy or not we haven't had a 1A starting goalie since Miller and no one seems to be able to solve the problem.

All those people are now gone and its Adam's turn.

both of those positions were and are still fair. I'd disagree with the fence, but I think an argument could be made.

Fair enough. Still has to make tha jump to the NHL

Other than Lehner no GM since miller has even tried though, thats the kicker. Several guys could have be here to get a starting role

I'm really not. But I do want to emphasize "if you're trying". I'm not really saying like a top 5 starter or anything, but you can absolutely get competent goaltending, if you try.

Detroit used a third round pick. Carolina got theirs in UFA. Same with Toronto. Dallas has 13 goalies. Colorado traded for Grubauer and he killed it for them. Of course, that same Grubauer is bad on Seattle. Florida's investment in Bob is finally doing good for them this year. Dubnyk was great in Minnesota for a while, and now Talbot, also free, is doing pretty good there.

Trust me. If you try, you can get one. The Sabres were content acquiring Dell, keeping Tokarski and signing Anderson who was three steps away from his (frank)ing couch.

At this rate, 6K won't be ready for a starting role next season. I don't think you bring him in to be a backup, there's no reason to take time away from him. Keep Tokarski as your backup or whatever, sign or trade for a 1-2 year starter. If 6K is ready in that time frame, do something with Tokarski and have a goalie battle.

I think Carter Hutton was a good move at the time. He became decrepit a little fast, so maybe trade for someone who isn't on their career death bed.

Well, we don't know what they have tried because we weren't in the room.

Many other teams have tried and succeeded though.

Luckily, there will be quite a few UFAs and a couple more available via trade this summer. Fixing that 1RD spot is going to be tougher methinks, unless we can convince Letang that him and Dahlin would be uber fun, I don't see a quick fix there. Joker should be with Power IMO.

It's the natural step to make. Pretty tough going from the AHL to being an NHL starter right out the gate. As a backup he'd likely get 30 games +. That's a very good amount of games to get his feet wet, see what we have and still not have him on the shelf so to speak.

Other than that, I think you're spot on.

Keep an eye on the Bruins with Ullmark if Rask comes back.
- SABRES 89

Ullmark has been horrible with the Bruins. I would pass on that contract and term
