I like Wedgewood but not interested in shipping out a 2nd this year.

If teams are wanting 1st or 2nd for a goalie then suck it up for the year.

- sabresfan69

terry should have offered wedgewood 850k instead of 750k

I think we gambled too heavily on Ullmark signing. By the time we accepted the reality and starting looking at the FA pool, it was down to nothing.
Our other huge issue is most FA don’t want to be part of a rebuild. We will most likely need to trade for a goalie

Evander Kane will be put on waivers today.

The Sharks are willing to eat half his salary in a trade.

A trade is being worked on.

Kane recently hired new agent Dan Milstein of Gold Star Hockey who is reaching out to teams including Vancouver.

nice blog, nice analogy, nice thought, but i've resigned myself to going most of the rest of the season with the toki/'puter combo...

unless...

they can land a draft pick from a team that needs to dump some salary and/or make a move to lighten their goalie situation

Good column Hank. We need to do something net. Dell simply can't play in the NHL ever again. He's brutal.

What's the harm in bringing UPL for tomorrows game and seeing what the kid's got? He played well in his 4 game audition last year. Think of it as a very short-term stop gap measure just so Sabre fans aren't traumatized tomorrow night if they see Dell between the pipes.

- SabreWest

If Dell bottoms out tomorrow they'll need to do something or risk having the team shutoff whenever he's out there. UPL or even Houser like Homie suggested should be given a shot.

Spending a 5th, 6th or a 7th round pick to take a flyer on a guy sends the message that Sabres management is invested in the team’s success. Doing nothing sends a terrible message to the room.

good point...

i'll stick by murray at half-salary retained and a third (or second if they could get it) for future considerations (will throw in dell to get the deal done)

Being stuck with Murray for 2 more years after this might be worse than suffering through 20 more games of Dell. I'm not even sure Murray is better

point taken...but that's the idea of getting a draft pick and, if he could ever right himself, he could be just what they needed for the next two-plus seasons

he's having a real solid season in rochester...also of note,

jankowski was picked 21st-overall in 2012 with the pick that buffalo used to trade up and select girgensons

I kinda, sort of get the sentiment of sending a message to the team that management believes in them.

Kind of.

Who are they sending that message to? Hinny, Drake, Bjork, Eakin, Butcher, Haag, Hayden, Pysyk, Routs, Wolainen? No, not at all.

Thompson, Dahlin, Joker, Cozens, Mitts, Asplund, Bryson, Olo, Skins,? I guess. Although, they all need to b.v e focused on improving their own game and taking it to the next level. THAT must be their entire focus. Worrying about finishing 22 instead of 28th is pure fools gold.
The Don can handle those guys well enough.

I, like several others have watched this team for 50 years, including the last 10 garbage years. Finally, there it s a bright light ahead and it ain't a train. Get a top 5 pick and select a real 1C prospect. Profit.
