It's actually more frustrating to hear they were handcuffed by Ullmark, got burned by him and had to flail around trying to get a goalie they had no chance of and the whole time we've failed to draft and develop any goaltenders since the original tank year.

I didn't see anybody respond to this, but I believe he's technically on the Sabres roster now after signing the NHL deal, and would need to clear waivers if they send him down, which may be why they sent Ruotsalainen down.

I would draft a goalie every year, because of the way they develop. I would have made sure I had a goalie in the organization last year in case Ullmark walked.

GMKA actually did the right thing when he got a goalie back in the Reinhart trade, the problem is his predecessors didn't draft, trade for or develop any goalies aside from UPL and from the looks of it, he'll never sniff being a starter in the NHL (however, he did have double-hip surgery iirc, and that's no longer going to give a goaltender DiPietro-syndrome, so he could still develop).

I would have done more than just sign 3 journeymen goaltenders as a panic move, too. As we saw, MAF was traded for next-to-nothing, and he almost refused to report to Chicago, so it's not like it would have been much different had he come here in a trade.

As others have said, Dallas has depth in net, Ndjelkovich, Andersen, etc... There were several free agents and trade options. Anderson was a good signing, imo. He's like Roloson. Somehow playing good into his 40's but he is a 40-year old goaltender so we should have had Dell and Tokarski down in the AHL while bringing in another goalie no matter how.

What I personally would have done? Traded for a goalie separate from the Eichel/Reinhart/Ristolainen trades.
