This is where Hurt’s needs to show what he is….Franchise QB’s win a game like this.

I agree. He would be a great backup and a guy you would bring in for gadgets

admittedly for all of the draft capital invested in the skill positions, they really dont have a guy who will definitively get separation and move the chains / go up strong and come down with a contested pass.

I tend to agree so if he isn't what's the plan? Correct me if I'm wrong but it's my understanding that there isn't a franchise caliber QB in the next draft. Please don't trade for Russell Wilson or Watson. That means waiting another year and then hopefully drafting a QB and taking the time to develop him. How many seasons is that?

For sure…I keep wanting to see the “it”. It’s not there. He’s just not accurate. To be fair though there are some other guys that really let them down today.

Those 2 drops by Reagor are embarrassing. The last one theres no excuse to drop that ball and the 1st one summed up his career perfectly.

yeah. i dont see that it factor either, but most of his throws are either short screens or he has to drill into nonexistent windows because theres never any separation.

i cannot get over reagor

It's an interesting debate but what I don't think is debatable is the Eagles offensive coaching staff isn't doing Hurts any favors.

you arent wrong.

i dont mean this as revisionist history, because a lot of teams passed on him, but it would be nice to evaluate hurts if he had a guy like metcalf. someone that can excel in contested ball situations.

I am far from convinced that he is the guy. But I am not convinced he is not either, and I will tell you why: he had a terrible, terrible game. Yet this is what, his 16th/17th start in the league? And yet when it came down to crunch time, he delivered dimes to Reagor: difficult throws. That throw to Goedert was also difficult and was a good pass. He didn't look panicked.

And that almost interception in between the drops: he needs to drive back towards his qb, show him his #s, brace himself and take the hit. Not muck around with no assertivessness whatsoever.

Get that stiff out of there and bring in Watkins for him.

They weren't dimes. They were catchable balls but they were floaters. Not to compare in any way but I'm watching the last two minutes of the TB Colts game and Brady is throwing darts with pace into tight spaces with minimal separation. Hurts doesn't have an NFL arm in my opinion.

Hurts is a warrior, a leader with intangibles out the ying-yang. Just doesn't have the arm and I hate the offense the Eagles run. It makes them more competitive but it's not an NFL offense.

He needs more playmakers but it's up to the coaches to get thr ball in those playmakers hands. Did Goddert do anything today? Smith semi-quiet.

They got away from the run again, at least in the beginning. Hurts made some poor decisions but I don't know of any young QB who would thrive under Sirianni.

the kid has a huge heart and definitely doesnt get rattled. i ultimately do not think he is "the guy", but you are right in that is far from an established certainty at this point. im mainly going off of extensively following his college stuff.

i just want the chance to evaluate him with an ideal environment/scenario, which is not taking shape.

Your last 2 sentences are correct, the problem is I don't know for sure if Hurts can be successful in a prototypical under the center NFL offense. His skill set is tailored to the RPO and rolling out the pocket.

to be fair, in no universe is he going to even approach what brady is. even at his best and if it suddenly clicks for him, he is not going to be the tight space/throw guys open type of passer.

Weird dude as far as offensive philosophy goes. All over the place. Eagles have been a great screen pass team since Westbrook. How many did he run today?

In his defense, he is also really young and inexperienced.

I wasn't trying to compare him. Just giving an example to a poster who was calling passes dimes that weren't. Hurts is slow to release in his timing and doesn't have the arm strength. With coaching and time, the first issue can be corrected but the second is what it is.

RPO are okay as part of the running game but they call straight up QB running plays or college option plays. They should be using this season to develop his pocket passing skills to see if he can adapt.
