When you want to clean house, you don't take one of the guys who was responsible for the mess and put him in charge.
Sounds like MB decided he was done, one way or another, and he suggested Mellanby as his replacement for GM and also perhaps for something bigger.
Molson shot it down, and all the stuff going down now is apparently being driven by Molson.
So the expectation is a major house cleaning (perhaps not all at once/immediately, as the new guy will need time to find replacements, etc...), but probably before the trade deadline.

Makes sense. I know bergevin isn’t popular with the fans but has anyone put a list together of French candidates with a better resume then him. I’m sure the list is very short |

It’s a good idea, but I don’t know what guy is gonna come in and turn the dumpster fire around. Lots of untradable contracts on the roster right now. |

I'm hoping they hire someone who has significant experience. a guy like Vincent Damphousse doesn't seem like an awful choice but he probably would have a way bigger learning curve and catching up to do than other guys who are already currently involved in the league.

Well drafting kotkeniemi romanov guhle etc should of helped. Habs just can’t develop a player to save their lives. I would focus more on that department personally |
