Excellent post:

This season though, it's a bit different than the past.

The veterans would sulk and spiral....

Most of these kids are happy to be here. Tage has to be happy with this season/ his game despite not winning.

Losing isnt breading more losing... IMO
Maybe guys like skimmer and dahlin, but the kids are excited about the nhl life and will be pumped for next season...

- Boss34

they're getting caved by good teams and generally fold...like kong said, come post-olympics teams will be ratcheting it up a few notches and it could get real ugly...an ugly that could very well have a huge negative impact on some young players moving forward

Hindsight, when he played for Toronto he wasn't very good.

I was looking at the standings a couple days ago and projected it will take 95 points to make the playoffs. Sabres are currently at 18. 77 points in 62 games. I don’t think that is out of the question. It could happen.

They got games in hand on Detroit. Big 4 point swing game tonight. They melted down last time they played Detroit. Can’t happen this time. They need this game.

A bold move would be to go and acquire a serviceable Goaltender and a RD and get healthy and see where this goes. This is a stress test year and I generally think the Sabres have been decent other than bad goaltending and porous D coverage

The Avalanche had one of the worst seasons of all time a few years back, fell to 4th after missing out on three lotteries, drafted Cale Makar and haven’t looked back.

Talent breeds winning, which then builds culture.

The Bills didn’t all of a sudden start winning because of culture, they drafted extremely well and made good personnel moves and won which bred the “good culture”.

The Sabres picking top 5 this year gives them another crack at a high end talent. We’ll be better for it a few years from now as long as Adams can make the right moves at the professional level.

Losing on purpose will be different this time around.
- ImThatGuy

Just pick the right guys in the draft. Like other teams do.

Andersen was solid up until last year.

He carried some defensively inept Leafs teams to respectability, numbers don’t tell the whole story there.

Goalies are also voodoo. Never seen so much variance and unpredictability in performance from a year to year basis.

Carter Hart couldn’t stop a beach ball last year and now is saving 14 more goals than expected (or somewhere around there).

Kinda seems like something wasn’t right with Hart last year because Flyer fans thought they were ready to roll with how well he played in playoffs the year before that.

we'll see...nobody here, nobody, could have foreseen this..."his tallness" is killing it and because of him that entire line is rolling...just look at skinner's game...he's got his mojo back and is not only on pace for a 20+ goal season, but is on pace to rival his career high in assists

53 had a brutal givaway on the Habs goal, but created TT's 1st goal and was a monster overall for the game. Guy's playing happy.

I think if the NHL plays it really benefits the Sabres who are not going to have many reps in the CCP Covid games. We get a nice breather while other teams might lose guys to injury.

Respectfully disagree

I actually see your side and maybe it will hinder longterm growth?

My thoughts are that 15/18 games post tdl are not going to leave a lasting career scar....

These young guys (the important ones) will be happy to have individual success this season.

6 of 12 forwards have no business is the nhl.
Neither goalie has a future
The defense aside from.joker/ dahlin can't be harmed more from.losing... miller, prysk, hagg - who cares....

Both Bloom and Nadeau look like they could potentially play a bottom 6 role a few years down the line in Buffalo.

I don’t think I’d have them in my top 10 Sabres prospects at the moment either though

- Pegullaville

Nadeau is the "sleeper" IMO. If he is on line 4, lookout for this team!

Time to watch the Wolverines get stomped and Jim Harbaugh not get fired. Lloyd Carr, where have you gone? I can't believe we ran him out of town for having trouble with Jim Tressel.

Skims stepped up his game immediately after the turnover.

He just isn't always "involved".
I noticed when he scores early, he's zipping around the rest of the game....

How about okposo and girgs last night. Excellent effort.
Love the eminem song when kyle scores...

Z-Train for Mayor.
Kyle's goal was so much fun. He worked So Hard for that goal. I love his season! No one deserves it more.
Even trailer trash Cody Eakin had a great game.

i get it, but i think you got it backwards at the end...journeymen players won't be harmed by losing...they know who they are and the best possible way to continue their career the following season...dahlin's confidence was crushed under the weight of losing last season and it showed at the beginning of this season...he's coming out of it, but it's a slow process...

i get what you're saying, but the proof is in the pudding...the post-tank season saw them with league-worst numbers of 179 wins, 232 losses, 420 points and .444 points percentage...it corroded the locker room, stunk up the ice and led to the trades of the two players the tanks got them

Yeah but what would you realistically give up for that goalie ?

I'd give up a #2 and a roster player (Girgs ?) for a decent goaltender. I think that would do it. And yes, we'll live without Girgensons.
