Can’t deny what Tage is doing. I’m still wondering if it is a flash in the pan because he was never a goal scorer. I don’t think he should be L1 Centre though and can’t match up with the other teams that have a good L1 Centre. Does he stop scoring goals if he goes back to wing once Mitts is up to speed?
- Hatboro_Swords

I think the answer was cozens vs. McDavid, matthews...

At home the Sabres can play their defensive "center" vs other stars.

Tages backcheck is ridiculous.
He shoots the puck more often than any other guy I've seen... jack eichel like....

I barely get too shoooo.... and tage is blasting it.

I think great28 is a utility knife and could slide over and let mitts take center...
I think tage is for real, but of course he's got a small sample size under this belt.

Losing on purpose will be different this time around.
- ImThatGuy

The Leafs just won their 11th game of the month last night. Most wins in any month in franchise history.

Auston Matthews (1st OA), Mitch Marner (4th OA), Morgan Reilly (5th overall), William Nylander (8th overall).

The Sabres have been to two ECF’s since the last time the Leafs won a playoff series, yet they are closer to a cup then 95% of the NHL.

Tage's progression is making this season far from lost, it's really awesome to see.

i don't think donnie meatballs is turning back from his brilliant "tallness"-to-center move...tage is a 200' beast who covers all that ice and has the stride, length and stickwork, as well as the desire, to do so...

will it last? who knows, but it's an amazing thing to behold right now

Just checked out Detroit’s line combos on dailyfaceoff, which is an excellent site for Fantasy data, especially DFS. I imagine Detroit will be matching Larkin, Bertuzzi and Raymond up against Tage’s line. Let’s see how it goes. I think Tage is a Drew Stanford 2nd line Winger or Luke Adam at best Centre. He is proving me wrong, but let’s see if it lasts. His shot is undeniable and he looks to have figured something out with his accuracy. Agree with your point about his desire too. Looks determined.

Anyone think we see Power in the AHL this season when Michigan is done playing?

I wouldn’t quite put him down as a long term center though.

You aren’t passing on Shane Wright because you have cozens tage and mitts

They could have one line of scrubs with Tuch and CM coming at some point.
- lacaprup

Hagg
Prysk
Dahlin
Joker

The defense is just not good enough.

Should be more fun with those guys coming back, but realistically they are not season changing players.
Maybe? I guess?

I appreciate your opinion and optimism, but they have played back up goalies all season but a handful of games. Teams would take the Sabres serious if we were a contender. Points get tougher, too......

certainly not, just saying he's now a part of the core moving forward and I couldn't really say that last year.

they're loaded up front, as usual, but their d is lacking...campbell is having a stupendous season thus far, but it's still only november

Way, way, way too early to be making a statement like the above.

Remember how Tage looked as recently as last season?

This feels like an out of sight, out of mind comment.

- kingcong39

😀😀😀

The comment mirrors a longtime Sabres fan who was in a coma or jail for the past 10 years.

Tage looks for real IMO.
He shoots rockets and he has olofsson's smooth vision feeding him the puck.
Skimmer rage olo is a very unique ,but excellent line.

Both olo and skims take attention away from tage, can't cover everyone...

I'll summarize why I want them to make a goaltending move: I fear that without making a move for a legitimate NHL goaltender, when the playoff happens post Olympic break (if the NHL goes), the team may truly crater under the weight of the higher intensity of each game combined with very bad goaltending.

Giving them a legitimate NHL goaltender will allow them to not crater, while still finishing somewhere in the 5th to 7th pick range.

- kingcong39

Who is giving up a legit NHL goaltender that isn't under contract for more than 2 years and won't hurt us down the road salary cap wise and we don't have to give up a 1st or high end prospect for?

That is what Adams is thinking I am sure.

People here post like goaltenders are just sitting around waiting to be scooped up for peanuts.

Legit goaltenders are expensive.

It’s impossible to prove without a doubt, but the Leafs in all likelihood go on a deep playoff run last year if Tavares doesn’t get taken out on a stretcher.

It’s only a matter of time for them to actually have a sustained playoff run.

we'll see...nobody here, nobody, could have foreseen this..."his tallness" is killing it and because of him that entire line is rolling...just look at skinner's game...he's got his mojo back and is not only on pace for a 20+ goal season, but is on pace to rival his career high in assists

Botts did?

I give credit where credit is due I know I was hoping for Kyrou or Thomas instead of Tage but all three are killing it now.(Still think we lost the trade at the time)

they should, no doubt...however their "matter of time" window is getting smaller by the season...matthews and nylander will be ufa's in a couple of years and the cap isn't going much higher than it is next year...

gonna be difficult

maybe he did...or maybe tage was the only youngin with upside the blues would give up...then again, maybe meatballs should get most of the credit for the bold move of moving him to center

When do they get Anderson back? He was playing great. As good as you could hope for any #1 goalie

Excellent post:

This season though, it's a bit different than the past.

The veterans would sulk and spiral....

Most of these kids are happy to be here. Tage has to be happy with this season/ his game despite not winning.

Losing isnt breading more losing... IMO
Maybe guys like skimmer and dahlin, but the kids are excited about the nhl life and will be pumped for next season...

No one enjoys watching the Leafs choke more than I do, but I’m not going to sit here and pretend they don’t have a very strong roster either just due to my disdain for the franchise.

Sure but then again does anyone remember the San Jose Sharks? Never won a thing.

If you can't win and your window closes you stay a loser.

I will worry about having to deal with leaf fans if Toronto makes it to the finals(Live near Toronto)
