Is it fair to say that your forward group next year looks like this:

Skinns
Okposo
Girgs
Tage
Cozens
Asplund
Murray
Quinn
Krebs
JJ
Mitts
Tuch
Bjork/Ruotsalainen

And your D group could look like this:

Dahlin
Joker
Hagg-get him re-signed
Bryson
Samuelsson
Laaksonen?
Pysyk?
Possible sign UFA to this group

Goaltender- big ?

you don't see power playing next year?

Swap Hagg for Power.

I think Power signs this year once Michigan’s season is over and gets a few NHL games in as early as this season.

Clearly you've blocked out your favorite defenseman from Minnesota...😅😅😅

They are to LD heavy, they need to add a quality RD and add some to the pipeline.

Vanecek because Samsanov is a RFA.
- Buff36

Yes, possible. Both those guys will need new contracts so maybe Vanecek gets moved and they call up Fucale to back up Samsonov.

Or the future potential top 4 d-man that you want to walk to UFA for whatever reason.

Maybe they draft a RD with one of their 1st rd picks next year. Nemec, Jiricek, Chesley and Luneau are a few that we certainly could draft.

It was a joke.

And maybe let him play in Rochester for a while before you push him in the top 4.

Maybe have Laaksonen continue to play in Rochester until he ceases with the horrendous giveaways?

vogl brings in baker for a quick, top-10 prospect ranking:

10--(tie) 6k/Portillo

“He’s facing adversity, and this is part of the process,” Baker said. “I think deep down Luukkonen is still the same prospect that was the best player in the OHL a couple years ago and led Finland to a World Junior gold medal. I think he’s still the same prospect that came up and performed pretty well in his first dose of NHL action last spring."

“He’ll be aggressive when he needs to, but with his size, he knows how to adjust his depth to the situation,” Baker said [of Portillo]. “He’s come so far since being drafted. He was very raw and kind of all over the place. He’s really kept himself composed in the net. He’s very calm."

9. Levi

“Forget his stats for a second,” Baker said. “The reason I think he’s the top goaltending prospect is he’s extremely patient and extremely quick. He’s smart and he’s really dedicated. His maturity level and commitment off the ice bring a lot of credibility to the work he does on it.”

8. Samuelsson

“I’m going to use a lot of the words that I’ve used in the past,” Baker said. “He’s a territorial defenseman who can contribute a little bit of offense when given opportunities. But I really like his defensive game. I think he can lock it down. He hasn’t been hurt by not having top end speed because he still has very good skating fundamentals.

“He’s performed as expected: steady, safe, simple and effective.”

7. Prokhor Poltapov

“He’s going to take a little bit of time to develop, but he has versatility. He’s got jam where he can play more of an energy role and capitalize on offensive opportunities, or you can see him playing with skill players up the lineup.

“There’s a lot of runway that he’s still going to have developmentally, but he’s a really likeable player. I could talk about this kid for days.”

Actually I have softened my opinion on Johnson somewhat. I'd like to see him in Rochester and see how he does.

vogl brings in baker for a quick, top-10 prospect ranking:

6. Ryan Johnson

“I’ll tell you what, he can fly,” he said. “His skating is so good. He has four-way mobility, not just one way.

“He creates motion at the top of the zone, finds good passing angles and is starting to shoot a little bit more. I like him overall just as jack of all trades from the back end."

5. JJ Peterka

“I really like Peterka for his versatility,” Baker said of the 5-foot-11, 192-pound forward. “He’s a really fun player to watch. He’s a sneaky agitator just because he keeps going, always finishes his hits. But that’s way down the list of things you mention with him, not anywhere near his top qualities."

4. Isak Rosen

“I put Rosen higher than Peterka based purely on goal-scoring ability,” Baker said. “I could see Rosen, when he’s physically developed into a man in five years, being a top-line player. His acceleration is A-plus. He’s got a quick shot, can just wire shots. He’s got a very good wrist shot.

“But he just needs to physically develop.”

vogl brings in baker for a quick, top-10 prospect ranking:

3. Peyton Krebs

“It’s very easy to see him going up and down the ice as an NHL centerman,” Baker said. “Krebs is one of those guys who makes his linemates better. He’s very competitive. He’s a natural leader. These things are very important."

2. Jack Quinn

“Nos. 2 through 5 got a little interesting for me, but I think No. 2 is clear cut at the same time,” Baker said. “The goal-scoring ability doesn’t need to be stated. Where Quinn has really taken his game to the next level this year is his playmaking ability, his vision, soft passing hands."

1. Owen Power

“With his size, he covers so much ground,” Baker said of the 6-foot-6 defender. “It doesn’t look like he’s moving a lot, but he’s gobbling up so much space. I don’t even really care about his point production in school. I just care that he’s a guy who looks like he can be relied upon to play top-pair minutes, the penalty kill, the power play and big even-strength matchup minutes.”

Good info.
It confuses me with the Caps as they are using $3.6m+ LTIR of Backstrom's $9.2m hit.
Their G situation is ridiculously cheap, especially Van at $0.7m.
It would seem they need to make some moves in addition to that...maybe sending several guys down gets the rest done?
