I wonder though if he's still very injury-prone, and at 34 how his physical condition is. - Pat1993
I'd take him anytime. exactly what they are missing. of course if they decide to go with a rebuild, that changes things.
he is a horse, in super top shape. always was. not too many injuries the past few years. and loves pressure. not a wussy like some others. |

yeah I know, he definitely meets the habs' needs, but he won't be so useful if he's always on IR.

yeah I read his comments about that, you definitely have to be able to perform in a high-pressure environment if you want to play in MTL and be successful.

huh, he's played a full 82 games only once in his career lol... anyway for the right price I'd definitely give him a shot, legit top puck-moving dmen don't become available very often. - Pat1993
yes, but played over 60 6 of the last 7 |

like you said, this type of dman don't hit free market that often. and the ones who would consider Mtl a top choice even less.

there are surely at least 3 or 4 other cities that would interest him, and you gotta wonder if the current trainwreck going on in MTL would influence him to stay away. sure he'd like to play for the habs but perhaps not under such losing circumstances. |

rebuild or not, a no brainer imo.
if you want to compete he'll help you, and if you rebuild he'll show the kids how to be a pro. would replace Chiarot perfectly.
of course he'd want to win. but playing at home can't be replaced. |

meh, after all those years with the penguins, PIT has become a second home for him, and at this point I doubt playing his last years in a city that isn't close to where he was born would be such a big deal for him. |

for what other reason would he place Mtl at the top of his list?
certainly not because they are sooo good |

not saying he wouldn't consider it at all, but if he has an opportunity to join a team he could potentially win another cup with, coming back home might not be such a priority all of a sudden. |

he didn't name the 2 other teams he'd be interested in. we'll have to wait till July.
and i think you underestimate the playing at home thing. especially for a 35 y/o. his money is made, he won cups. raising his kids here, close to the family, could be more important than you think imo. |

I get all that, but actually I think you're kind of overvaluing that aspect... the way I see it is this can be very different from one person to another, and of course he'll talk positively about it when speaking to french media, as would basically any Quebec-born player.
anyhow, we'll see what happens, there's still around 60 games to play in this god damn pathetic season lol |

meh, yes to the french media thing.
but you think differently when you're 25 than when you're 35 with kids.
you are right though. to each is own. Danault just made the opposite decision. but Danault was looking for a big contract. Letang probably won't.
and yes Molson will have made a decision by then. he has no choice. MB's contract ends in June. |

I know, it was a sarcastic comment since right now he's just hiding and taking an eternity to make a move, or to at least communicate what his intentions are. |

yeah but he should still be available, given the situation and the number of question marks surrounding the team, even if he doesn't tell us about everything that is currently going on. a bit of transparency and proper PR management wouldn't hurt once in a while for this organization lol |

also heard Letang saying he'd love to play for the Habs. pending ufa. we don't hear that every day. - fidopro
No thanks, stars saying they want to play as a Hab a few years past their prime, I believe Ovechin said the same thing |

well he might not be getting any younger but Letang is 34, he's still playing top minutes in Pittsburgh and he's surely got a few years of good hockey left in him... not sure why you'd turn down the opportunity to grab the kind of dman the habs precisely need to add on their blue line right now.
and did Ovechkin also say he'd like to play for the habs? is he past his prime as well..? |
