let say he gives 8M to Price instead of 10.5M, the vision is still not there.
when you build the wings before building the center line... when you build your dcore to play 70' hockey... when your star goalie gets older and injured... when you cannot draft to save your life....

Price would have bailed out of town for nothing if Bergevin offered him 8M at the time, I still believe to this day that the moment Subban got traded was the moment Carey mentally checked out, any trust he had that the management could build a contender team around him was gone for good. And who would blame him when your GM decides to trade your #1D and arguably best skater because some divas can't handle his character?

Carey was probably like 'screw these guys upstairs, I'm not going to take a discount this time if they are going to pull more dumb ass moves with the money they would save from my sacrifice. I'm gonna break the bank and let them figure how to deal with the mess'.

I recall Price being positive of the Subban trade saying Weber is clearly better, and frankly we won that trade decisively. I don't buy that narrative, but I agree Price got overpaid and trading him on the last year of his contract should have been done.

By definition, trading Price for Koskinen would be a symbiotic relationship. Edmonton would dominate, and you guys would get a very solid chance at both Wright and Bedard. This is not your year, and Price could become un-tradable if you hold onto him too long.
