me thinks he's gonna have to dish out a bit more money from the millions he's making if he ever wants his team to win. I don't doubt his willingness but you have to wonder why after all these years it hasn't already been addressed. - Pat1993
I see it as him running the team as a legacy brand. Sell the logo, name, history, etc... Make it a part the community's fabric so it's essential. Winning is simply a bonus. Too bad their best run in 28 years was to limited capacity |

maybe I'm missing something, but if you look at the hockey operations team the habs have compared to what Pittsburgh have in place for example, it sure looks like MTL should definitely add to their staff...
https://www.nhl.com/penguins/team/staff
https://www.nhl.com/canad...ns/team/hockey-operations
if the penguins had put the god damn pictures like the habs did it probably wouldn't fit on one page lol. there's no salary cap for the coaching staff, and the habs could definitely afford to hire specialized coaches for things like skating and skills development... technically speaking they should have one of the best hockey ops team in the league. - Pat1993
Holy shyte the Pens have a lot of suits.

perhaps you're right, but I get the feeling it's something that just might have been incompetently overlooked... unless there's some sort of difficult financial situation I'm not aware of, if you're a multi-millionaire like Molson owning a very profitable team and business then why the (frank) wouldn't you want to invest a bit more and improve your chances of being successful... yes coaches in the NHL get a certain salary but it isn't like he would need to spend millions upon millions more. |

yes lol... not saying that "more is better" but you gotta think that it helps to have a bigger staff sharing very specific responsibilities. |

yeah I get that, perhaps he doesn't care all that much, but the way I see it is Molson genuinely wants to win but isn't necessarily the most qualified person to determine what direction the team should be taking right now, and what solutions need to be put in place.

He's done a lot of weird things that indicate he only wants to do things that he knows are profitable. Why double the coaching staff? Payroll increases, but winning isn't a sure thing if it's done.
Why step in and give PK $9 million a year? Because Subban is cool and people buy things with his name, he's affiliated with the logo, so people will get CH gear.
He should invest more, but there is nothing to say he should as long as 21,273 are showing up. |

the kind of decision that makes me think it's a matter of incompetence more than it is about being satisfied with current profits despite how pathetic the final product looks on the ice... anyhow in both cases the end result is the same I guess lol |

there's also the possibility that he's both incompetent and a cheap bastard... in which case we better pray he ends up selling the team |

tbf though, watching paint dry is more entertaining than watching this team. and less depressing, since after that at least you get to enjoy the paint job you did.

yes, maybe you heard him yesterday talking about Primeau?
« C’est clair pour moi. Dès que Jake revient, il n’y a même pas de débat, c’est Primeau qui retourne à Laval. Je répète, ce gars-là doit jouer des matchs. S’il est à Montréal, faites-le jouer. S’il est à Laval, faites-le jouer. Ce n’est pas plus compliqué que ça. » |

this is why I mentioned yesterday you weren't really reading my posts, because actually I specifically mentioned that if he could maintain the same level of play he had shown against NYR then he should stay with the big club and share the net with Allen 50/50, or something close to that, so he acquires real NHL experience. would have made sense for Allen as well since it's apparent he struggles when asked to be #1.
but don't go backreading though, if it makes you feel better

he will not share the net 50-50, that's the point. not with Allen.
he could with montembault. but not Allen. Allen will play all the games except b2b.
Waite said many times, they want Primeau to play 150 games in Laval. he now has 60. |
