This is a complete BS post. No one on here that knows anything about hockey and the Jets will be calling Schiefele lazy. I'll also add that Connor is a highly underrated regarding backchecking. He is often the first guy back and it very responsible in his own end. Wheelers problems are his own and has nothing to do with his linemates.

Idk man, it's pretty obvious Scheifele is lazy sometimes, so often when he's on for a goal against he could've likely prevented the goal with the slightest bit of effort but he just can't be bothered it seems, Connor has gotten WAY better at backchecking though.

Scheifele trains harder than anyone to put in the least effort on the ice. He gives up a lot when the puck is going the other way. It’s been bad enough at times in the last couple years that he’s actually drifted into negative impact territory for short stretches. Maurice, of all coaches, benched him for it at one point

Connor tries, but he doesn’t have the awareness or size to do much defensively. That’s fine, as long as you recognize what his weaknesses are. McDavid can’t defend for sh*t either

The people here don't think it's Wheeler himself being the issue its the refusal of the coach to address that. Maurice loves his veterans and that has always been his downfall and the team here wins despite his coaching not because of it.

Yes. And I 100% agree that PoMo over-uses Wheeler. No doubt about it. Maurice is a great person, but he certainly lacks the ability to play the "hot-hand". Players have not been rewarded with increased TOI when clearly earning their keep. No disputing that. Most coaches today can adapt throughout every game, and Maurice lacks that. This is the first year I have ever seen him jostle some lineups and put Wheeler on the 3rd line and it has been great, but he still has work to do.

What about that play by Crosby on Martin Fehervary? He basically suplexed him into the boards and if that's not a suspension, then McDavid's little headshot on Pionk definitely is not. The NHL department on player safety is a joke!

No. I am a big fan of the Jets, but McD braced shoulder first and did make primary body contact prior to following through to pionk's head. It was a simple tall guy vs little guy with some bad optics making it appear as tho his elbow made contact, which it did not. The hit was properly addressed as a minor. I am a big fan of Pionk and his play of late. He is a pest, reliable in the D zone, and his offense speaks for itself. No clue why the Rangers fans hated the kid so much.

Sid... Ya that looked bad, tho I feel bad for the guy, as the bottom 6 on that team refuses to be remotely physical. Sid is trying to do everything and that team has been completely spineless. I could see that one being a debate for suspension, especially if it would have resulted in an injury.

I definitely note Scheifele as lazy often. I don't think it's a matter of hockey sense, most eyes can see him coasting around the neutral zone/blue line waiting for an offensive opportunity. He has injected a more regular spirited back check this year which is a step in the right direction.

The optics of that could argue the opposite. Good positional centres are forced to scramble far less often. Scheif's zone saturation and possession stats would certainly paint a different picture. Not sure why so many guys seem to not like him. He's been over 1ppg since 2015, and is one of the best contracts in the NHL. He finished 2nd only to McD for players to record at least 1 point in a game. When I watch him play, I see a guy with unbelievable hand-eye coordination, and some of the best anticipation skills in the league. He plays with a chip on his shoulders and creates so much chemistry with his wingers.
