DeAngelo has learned a lesson and has grown up. He is currently on pace for 82 points and if he stays healthy he will probably hit 70. The fans in Carolina absolutely love him and he really has been brilliant and his post game interviews are off the charts, he is a real charmer. He would have replaced Leddy easily however the problem goes much deeper with this team. Chara, Green, Aho, Bailey, Palmiere to name a few are plugs. Why is Walstrom not playing with Barzal and Lee full time. If not Wahlstrom put Beauvillier on that unit. Nelson, Bailey and Beauvillier seem to only play well in the playoffs for some strange reason. Other than Sorokin the whole team is looking bad.

Sebastian Aho one of the two #Isles brought in for pre-game media access. Might be a good hint he’s playing again tonight at Florida.

Trotz: Casey Cizikas (non COVID illness) will be a game-time decision. He’ll skate this morning during team’s optional.

You mean so when I wondered aloud if Aho would be given a few games with the team it wasn't as far-fetched as the responding party made it seem? Huh...

Not an aho guy but it was one game after sitting forever so bound to be a bit rusty and I suppose it helps Dobson rest or really drive he the point as far as his play is concerned. Is it me or has Chara been much better

Chara has certainly improved.

I'm not against putting Dobson back in tonight and giving Z a night off against a really high-end offensive team. A little more mobility and agility back there may benefit them.

That said, well aware Dobson is probably sitting again.

He should get a few games, imo. And I say that as someone with no real strong opinions on the player one way or the other. I just don't think it'd be fair to close the book on a player after one game on his off side against the best team in the league.

If he's on the roster, he should get a solid look. Otherwise, what's the point? It's not like he's a "kid" who's benefiting from just traveling with the big club and watching games from the press box. He's 25. At this stage, it's probably time to either fish or cut bait. And if you fish, you need to have some patience. Maybe he's as bad as he looked last night; maybe not. I don't think the final word on that is if he made a couple of bad mistakes in one game...it's if those same mistakes keep happening with no sign of improvement.

He looked...quicker last night. I just am not big on both him and Greene on the slu at the same time

Both for their age been decent. They are being used as stay at home defenseman. They need a power play quarter back

Chara's last few games were better than the first few. I think the issue with the D isn't just one guy, but rather that, as a whole, it's a slower D than the Isles have had and they haven't seemed to fully adjust to that yet. At least that's my guess!

You just don't have players like Leddy and Toews anymore who, for all their faults, added a dimension because they could effortlessly skate the puck out of danger. It doesn't mean this D corps can't be as good or even better, but maybe the team has to tweak its approach exiting the zone a bit for this D to find a rhythm and commit fewer turnovers.

Both Pulock and Dobson were hopefuls but one couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat and the other likes to turnover the puck at the blueline. Aho is not likely to be that guy either

We were gambling on Dobson turning a corner. Hasn’t happened yet. Hopefully it does if not adding a defenseman becomes more of a priority then a forward imo. Would’ve liked to have added some fire power and jettisone Bailey but it doesn’t look like it’ll happen.

I can't imagine the length of Bailey's runway.. has to be friggin Miles.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hickey at this point over Chara. need to get Pulock and Pelech back together instead of breaking them up to hide the deficiencies of Chara and yes Dobson.

Like I’ve said plenty of times I feel they’ll snap out of this most likely shortly. With that said it would be nice to see some accountability as far as the vets are concerned. The losses have to me been team efforts and they shouldn’t be exempt from sitting a few games.

You seem exceptionally eager to get rid of a guy that's been a huge part of the Blues strong start. The Islanders will be fine with or without him.

This may also come as a surprise to you, but getting someone on a message board to agree to send some sort of hypothetical package to the Blues for him is even less meaningful than the terrible trade proposals I keep posting

There's a flipside here for a veteran who has 'earned it'. Complacency. It seems the whole team might get the message if a guy like Bailey is sat as opposed to repeatedly targeting the same young forward

My guess is that Trotz is giving them the benefit of the doubt that they're experienced enough to understand what they're doing wrong and are going to put in the work to fix it. He's still trying to teach Dobson/Wahlstrom, which I get too.

I think there is a long list of players they would consider sitting before they would ever scratch Bailey. That guy is teflon at this point.
In the case of Ollie, I would like to see him get 2-3 games in the top line just to see if things clicked for him. I get the teaching points, but there is a stage wherw it could have a negative impact as well. Trotz has clearly not been happy with him since camp started
