We’re going to need $ at some point so I’m ok with someone going. I’d say move one of them now for a pick and hold onto the cap space. See where things stands when Mik comes back and maybe look at moving someone then. At that point you can decide about bringing in a 7th or another backup if Woll doesn’t look like he can do it. First step though, I acquire cap flexibility.

And I have to think a little cap space is attractive as they think about adding a D or Winger in February.

Ride the young guys now and, if needed, add a vet at the deadline.

Man does the TSN web site for hockey suck ass!

No update in the standing from yesterday's games yet!

I'm at a point that TSN isn't worth using anymore

TSN is only good for curling and CFL

It's funny because it's my brain's go-to. What did I miss? Go to TSN. And then remember that it sucks now - and has for a few years. So does Sportsnet. You want a decent boxscore? Go to the NHL website. The others all have crappy recaps and poor layout for the box. I think it's TSN where they don't or didn't even properly give the shots on net. On top of that these sites have a bunch of writers who very team-centric. Having some guys with actual objectivity goes a long way in terms of being a national sports network.

I saw a rumour on twitter that said Justin Holl to Pittsburgh for back up goalie Louis Domingue

Holl went from a player that we needed to bend over backwards to protect in the expansion draft to a basic cap dump in less than 10 games.

I feel like that's the type of move you make if you're trying to justify having Hutchinson as your backup. In the past 3 years, of any goalie who has played at least 10 games, this is your list of worst goalies by GSAA / Game:

1. Howard
2. Domingue
3. Schneider
4. Hutton
5. Kinkaid
6. Montembault
7. Dubnyk
8. Hogberg
9. Subban
10. Elliot
11. Hutchinson
12. McElhinney
13. Miller
14. Holtby
15. Murray

He did post pretty decent numbers when he played on Tampa, but since then playing in Jersey, Vancouver and Calgary have not shown him in a good light (unless the red one shining behind him is considered "good").

I don't feel negatively towards Muzzin at all - he's not playing well, but I still believe he'll turn it around. It's going to take more than just a poor start to the season to make me believe he's done or washed up. Probably 30-40 games in if he's still playing like this, we'll know we have a serious problem.

but that just me.

Unless it's Holl + Hutchinson for Domingue and 6th round pick.

We did have McCann.

I will give Dubas this - if he basically cap dumps Holl right now, we at least know he is trying to do what is best for the team, not trying to save face for previous bad decisions.

Trade Holl for Hallander and a 7th so I can laugh.

I certainly didn't love Brian Burke, but I recall him saying that when you recognize a mistake, you correct the mistake and don't worry about the optics. That was in regards to Versteeg. Which could have worked out better for us in the long run if we had any decent amateur scouting. We basically traded Stalberg for Versteeg (we received Sweatt who refused to sign here and went to Vancouver where he played 3 games over 2 years; we included Paradis and DiDomenico who didn't play for the Hawks). After a half year, we traded Versteeg to the Flyers for a 1st and a 3rd (which we unfortunately used on Percy & decently on Leivo). They also gave us Van Riemsdyk for Schenn. We should have traded with them more.

So it was the secondary scoring keeping the team afloat early in the season, then the big buys took over, and have been absolutely dominating, racking up wins. If the team could ever get both going at the same time, at the right time.... good things would happen.

isn't every GM?. Much easier to get a good value player and contract when you're giving up assets in return.

I really liked Burke. That gruff, tell it like it is, screw you attitude, it was refreshing to me, rather than hear GMs blow smoke up everyones butt.

I don't think we need someone like Dominque, unless Mrazek's injury is worse than anticipated.
I think we can give Hutch or someone else a game or three until Mrazek returns

None of these guys reputations have changed at all for me. Let alone "dramatically."
Nylander has always had this potential and I'm glad he's hitting it

Muzzie will bounce back

Dermott is still 3rd pair (at best) trade bait

Lili you might be right with a lot of other people's perspectives but he's exactly where I expected him to be right now. Its a shame so many people lost faith in him so early.

Campbell is the teams MVP right now and that to me is the most dramatic change in reputation considering the goaltending concerns going into the season. But he could still show inconsistencies going forward. We'll see!
