everyone please stop trying to bench der kampfwagenšŸ¤¦šŸæā€ā™‚ļø

He has stated publicly that he wants to be a bomber defensive forwardšŸ‘

deductive reasoning:

defense wins championshipsšŸ‘šŸæ

der kampfwagen loves playing defensešŸ‘

ergo, a guy like der kampfwagen is worth a couple of million in the grand scheme of thingsšŸ‘šŸæ

iā€™ll temper my expectations for pointz with younguns like him, giraffe and souperman as long as they prioritize their own zonešŸ‘šŸæ

especially at that pricešŸ˜

we may need a coaching change as the current coach seems to be using babs systemšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

by all reports theyā€™re having more fun in the change room thošŸ˜

Apparently Dubas has reinstated the dress code because someone wore a tee shirt to the rink

And thatā€™s why hockey players are expected to wear suitsā€¦. Because too many of them think they should be allowed to wear whatever they want

Not when you make that much boys, and itā€™s not the only job on the planet expecting you to dress certain ways.

Tbh Iā€™m glad this was killed off.

they were being groomed to play as a pair when they were with the Marlies.

Yup, and thatā€™s what I failed to think of when it came to the NHL level.

For most rookies itā€™s learning how to play at the NHL skill level AND play with a new partner

In this case both rookies only have to learn to play at the NHL skill level, and thatā€™s why itā€™s working

Pretty much. Kampf isn't much more than a defensive specialist (which is good!) and I think Engvall and Kase are pretty equal with their offensive instincts. Both have potential to be better and I could see that line finding a bit more offensive groove than they've shown.
That being said, I do expect Engvall to get the boot when Mikky is healthy. I find Engvall and Mikheyev to be almost the exact same player, but for some reason, management prefers Mik, so I have a feeling they're going to move Engvall for a late pick or something.

- UsernameUnknown

When Mikheyev is healthy, I think he'll have to play his way back to game-shape, so he likely starts in the bottom-6 despite wanting a top-6 assignment. I think he is similar to Engvall in what he brings. Mikheyev may be more linear in his game, which could make him easier for Kase to play off of. Similar to what they bring to that line, Engvall is a puck carrier with some decent speed. Mikheyev does much the same, but he's probably faster. They both choose to shoot at inopportune times from inopportune locations. I think Engvall drives possession more, and I think Mikheyev pushes the play more.

I like how Simmonds has been playing of late, so he feels like something should start going in for him. Ritchie has had one decent game, so if he keeps it up that'll make things more difficult - but if Simmonds or Ritchie aren't really consistently producing, Engvall or Mikheyev may move to that line to give it a boost.

I'd echo Dozzer's comments though that Bunting, for his little engine and work ethic, hasn't been producing very much in the last 10. Of course neither has Matthews at 5v5. If Bunting is detrimental to that line's performance, he might get bumped down as well.

When Mikheyev is back heā€™ll get plunked into an offensive role first. So the question is when heā€™s back my guess is maybe Bunting gets some time off in order to up Mikheyevā€™s trade value hoping heā€™ll produce some offence.

And yes I know how much everyone fā€™n loves Bunting but heā€™s only got 3P in the last 10 games (not a single one since Vegas) and is minus 4 playing on the top line. Nowhere near good enough

- Dozzer

I do like Bunting but also understand your point and could see it happen. And can't disagree. Maybe I'd bump Kerf up with Auston and let Miky play with Marner and JT. Or drop Kerf to 3 and let Bunting and Miky play in the top 6. I don't know but I dont think I like it whichever way it's sliced.

most of these pantywaists can afford a stylist to take care of this stuff for themšŸ‘

You might want to change things in order to get some scoring from your bottom 6. Remember that 15 straight goals from the core 4 stat? And who got the next one? Kase, when they moved Engvall off the line and replaced him with Kerfoot who made an actual offensive play.

I donā€™t hate Engvall. I havenā€™t posted about him that much. Iā€™ve posted more about Ritchie. The Leafs need both the top end guys going along with their secondary scorers. Kase actually has that ability. Kampf isnā€™t offensive but heā€™s their top D centre. Build a line around them that can shut others down and score occasionally. I, not sure why thatā€™s so upsetting.

- Canada Cup

So we wanted the big 4 to be going so they went. Scored in bunches. Now the media has driven up this story of "depth needs to score!" It's just a dumb storyline that won't matter in the end.

Oh no, high paid big guns are scoring too much - Thats a problem!!

Jonas Siegel
@jonassiegel
Combined goals for John Tavares, William Nylander, Auston Matthews, and Mitch Marner: 22

Combined goals for everyone else: 14

Can the Leafs find enough scoring beyond the headliners? Will it matter?

It will not matter. No.

For context: Hurricanes have 3 players with 5+ goals and noone else with more than 3.

Panthers have: 2 at 8 and one at 5.

Top guys are top guys.

Seems to be just how the coach wants it, when the bottom 6 get an icing 10 seconds into their shift and the Matthews line comes out Iā€™m not sure what people expect. šŸ„ŗ
