Holl went from a player that we needed to bend over backwards to protect in the expansion draft to a basic cap dump in less than 10 games.
- Leafs43

Happens when he was overrated a bit to begin with.
Also, when our cap is so bad.

But when he's playing like he has for the last 2 years, he's probably the best value Dman we have

So it was the secondary scoring keeping the team afloat early in the season, then the big buys took over, and have been absolutely dominating, racking up wins. If the team could ever get both going at the same time, at the right time.... good things would happen.

I’d like to see Kase play with somebody who wasn’t a black hole offensively.

When muzzin was propping him up?
Without muzz he’s been bad.

Seems like a nice guy though

At best, he'll get 5 on 5 time with Spezza, maybe? Kase won't see much time, if any playing with Tavares or Matthews.

It was an iffy goal IMO, not as iffy as the one given to Danault a game earlier, however, neither really affected the outcome. LA won easily and so did the Leafs.

Agree, but it remains a judgement call as to whether it was intentionally directed towards the net or not. He lifted his skate - which appeared to happen after the puck contacted the skate.

They could keep him with Kampf but maybe replace Engvall with somebody defensively responsible but with some offensive capability.

has a muzzin with anyone else pairing been as effective? I don't think so.

im pretty sure you can still direct the puck with your skate, even though I dont think he even did that in this case. its the "distinct kicking motion" rule thingy..that I cant see even remotely happening in this case

A puck that deflects into the net off an attacking player’s skate who does not use a distinct kicking motion is a legitimate goal. A puck that is directed into the net by an attacking player’s skate shall be a legitimate goal as long as no distinct kicking motion is evident.

You think Nylander's goal was a blatant kick?

Watch the replay again:

Muzzin throws it in front and it goes off the skate which does not even extend to meet the puck (1:40 of the video). He lifts his skate well after the puck has deflected off of it. That's incidental.

When you see a skate blade angled to direct the puck to the net, or you see the leg move to meet the puck - those to me are the questionable ones that are no longer ever being questioned. But that was the least questionable "kicking motion" goal I've seen this year.

Well, when a Doctor checks your reflex by tapping your knee to make your your leg kick was to the same response when the puck hit his skate.

that's what I was thinking on the play

the problem with that is we don't really have any offensively gifted left wingers.

Bunting, maybe?

People don’t understand what’s legal anymore and that’s the problem

The puck was moving over via pass and that alone made it legal, for it to be considered a kicked in goal this year the puck has to be still. The ref flat out (frank)ed up calling that a no-goal.

The only reason he lifted his skate up was a reaction to the deflection.

Once the puck left his skate his whole blade was along the ice.

Pretty simple.
