PER EK:

There will be no shortage of rumors this seasons surrounding Patrick Kane and Jon Toews, and talking to a few sources this morning, the game may already be afoot.

Per two sources, The Flames, who had interest in Eichel, have SERIOUS interest in adding Jonathan Toews and his experience to their surprise contending lineup. The Flames have a lot of talent to deal from…

More to come.

Obviously Lindholm or Tkachuk aren't coming the other way but Monahan + a second that turns into a first if they get out of the first round of the playoffs or if the Hawks eat some of the Toews contract would be interesting.

Haven't watched any of Calgary's games to see how he is moving after that hip surgery though.

Brandon Hagel out 2 weeks with a shoulder injury. Not the worst-case scenario for the Blackhawks.

When Maple Leafs management wakes up this afternoon and reads Hockeybuzz they will be all over our Interim GM. They have already blown their load of draft picks so could offer McDermott and Jason Spezza. Maybe a Russian on IR too.

The two sources were JJ and Bob.

I can say with all honesty Bob wasn’t involved.

Wonder if Dubas can trade for another injured player at the deadline? Think he’d want Gus?

Caofriendly has Kalynuk assigned to the minors. Maybe he plays a couple of games in Rockford than is recalled for the western road trip.

Edit - Late to the party...just saw the earlier post from LAHawk

Lol at Eklund still using his ‘e1’ and such system years after it has become a laughingstock. Guy is a broken clock. Toews going to Calgary is about as likely as Strome going back to Arizona. They have to pay Tkachuk and Goudreau after this year, are already eating money on Lucic and the Brouwer buyout… yet they’re going to squeeze in a $10.5M cap hit to a team with $280k in space… for a guy who missed an entire season and has injury histories. Not to mention they already have a 32+ year old who is a defensive middle six center with Mikael Backlund.
Yeah maybe Dallas will add another goalie, I’ll call it Shesterkin to the Stars O3.

i will play:

Toews and Subban (they need a back-up goalie for

Goudreau (expiring contract, UFA) Zadorov (expiring contract, Sutter already is done with him), and a second rounder (they also have the Panthers second)

Cap space galore next year

If EK has that rumor, then you know Toews isn’t going anywhere.

I am not against it at this point....I just don't see how it happens...given Toews cap hit, the asking price the Hawks would want.....and the real kicker.....would Toews waive his NMC to go to Calgary?

Gotta love the E4-E5s......

I'd put it at that trade at a lower percentage of happening vs Eklund becoming an actual REAL bon a fide insider on TSN.

This site is just a riot for people who pay for his rumor charts, and believe ANYTHING he says....remember...he pimped Dallas Dave for years and Dallas Dave turned out to be 2 kids making crap up.....so there's that.

I’ve seen enough of Reese Johnson, and Hardman is just not ready. I’ll take Entwistle over those two and Carpenter any day of the week. When is Tyler Johnson coming off Covid list? Replace R Johnson and Hardman with Borgstrom and T Johnson, and replace Gus with anybody.

T Johnson and Phillips both off of the COVID list as of today.

I'm with you on R Johnson and Hardman. Hardman may eventually turn into something, but he needs a lot of development work.

Scott’s post was quadruplicated because the site hangs. I was just giving him the gears for that.

I said after the 2016 season that the core should be moved factoring in no move clauses and stuff. Had the Hawks done it I guarantee the return would have been high. Imagine the prospects and draft picks the hawks would have acquired, the cap space would have gone to zero and I bet today the team wouldn’t be a cellar dweller, in fact I’d bet they be close to, or contending.

If or when the Hawks ever get to the heights of the last decade, they have to seriously be ready to reset before their assets expire and before they find themselves with expired assets and in cap trouble.

Yeah. Hardman needs some seasoning. Playing on the top 2 lines at the Rock will give him more ice time.

I would be ok with trading Toews to Calgary but it needs to be a 3rd draft pick and Calgary needs to take 60% of Toews contract.

Kane really sure did not look good on those two 2 on one breakaways. Kane seems to not have the confidence anymore. He prefers The Cat to take the shots for the kill. It’s ok with me most of the time but not when he has the best shot available. What I like about Debrincat is his cool quick releases regardless if the puck is rolling or 2 feet in the air…he jams the puck home and his patented grin takes him all the way to the bench. Sooner than later it will help the younger players on the team relax more and be more confident on scoring.

Good advice. But it’s easy not to get attached to companies, hockey players are more difficult to “dump”. Had Bowman had the balls to move Toews, Kane, Keith and Seabrook among others after the 2016 season, this site would have had a meltdown. But hindsight being what it is, that is what should have happened, a very hard business decision to try to rebuild very quickly.
