And really, who better to talk about being a Hawk for life than this guy? Am I wrong? Are we splitting hairs here? - Ogilthorpe2
Don't catch your drift, Ogi. Guy takes some time to share his thoughts. How is this any different when the rest of us weigh in? I can also be a little thick between the ears sometimes. So, there's that. Wouldn't be the first time. |

In this connection, I saw Forsling play for FLA last night on TV. Does a credible job. Add him to the list of guys that should have never been rushed up to play in the NHL. - gabriel
Hopefully the new GM will improve drafting and development. I think the European scouting has done well but I’d like to see an improvement in North American scouting. I’d also like the draft selections to trend more to sure things rather than long shots. |

Just out of curiosity, which ones of the last, say, five first rounders do you think were long shots? |

This one was on the HOF - they apparently did zero due-diligence before letting have his 2nd day. |

And this, from a Rick Westhead tweet:
Update: The NHL has informed a lawyer for "John Doe 2" that the league will not cover costs of counselling/therapy for him and his family.
An NHL employee wrote in an email the league will leave that matter for the Blackhawks to manage, JD2's lawyer said.
Bettman and the other owners washing their hands of it and leaving it all up to Rocky. |

Should they not? It was the Hawks management group that caused 99% of this problem. I'm no fan of the league office, but from what I understand, they had no hand in this (full disclosure, I did not read the report - if they did know about it and did nothing then I'd call them partially culpable). |

I understand this is upsetting but the Blackhawks admitted they (frank)ed up and the league office is going to let the Blackhawks deal with it especially since it happened under their roof. I imagine the Blackhawks will be the ones paying for the settlement as well.
What would make you happy Sage? Can't turn back time
Arrests?
Unfortunately to late for that |

Beach did go to the nhlpa and the NHL knew what happened and did nothing for him. So they have blame in this matter not as much as the Blackhawks but they have their share imo. |

I don’t need to be made happy about this - that ain’t gonna happen.
What I would have LIKED to see was the league taking more of a pro-active part in this, recognizing that this is a league-wide (all leagues, not just hockey) problem, and the league office and the other owners, caught in a “there but for the grace of God…” situation, in cooperating to make things right, instead of pushing it back to a reclusive Chicago ownership group.
The league needs to recognize that this IS a league wide problem - that the public, and (more important to the league) the corporate sponsors are looking at their actions - or lack thereof. |

Your original post indicated that any costs associated with the counseling of JD2 would be the financial responsibility of the Hawks, not the NHL. The rest is you making an inference on that position. My view is that the league is taking this as a serious matter. |

Happy poor choice of words
But Danny and Rocky said they want to make this right
I'm sure the league office can step back in anytime they want.

I’ve already given my opinion here - seems to be a not very popular one - doesn’t matter.
Why don’t you figure it out for yourself, and let it go at that. |

2nd line tonight: Kub / Toews / Khaira
I don’t have a problem with Khaira’s game - I have a problem with him on the 2nd line.
But… this will probably change in game. |

Yeah, but might as well be. If Carpenter is still on PP1, then it’s time for Derek King to step down. |

Beach and his agent apparently had no responsibility to do anything other than notifying a few people and then become invisible. They could have contacted the police. They could have contacted Hawk top management or ownership. They could have followed up with NHLPA top management. They could have notified the NHL directly. They could have asked for a trade. They could have asked to be released from their contract. They could have refused to re-up with the Hawks. Don’t get me wrong. The Hawks mishandled this and what they did was 100% wrong. But Beach and his agent’s actions at the time of the “very serious” incident relevant to the current litigation don’t exactly jive.
