I'm hoping but i already like King barely playing Gusto that's already my kind of coach - BetweenTheDots
Crawford ran the defense, Brookbank was way in over his head. |

WTF!! Kane should have been benched for being slow, lazy and poopty. - paulr
Busted a** getting back for that 2-on-1
Never cease to be amazed at how quickly he thinks and reacts...receive pass, kick it, pass it directly back to DBC's tape at 25MPH with a defender barreling down on them |

It's almost like the Dmen were more in control not chasing the puck...and able to be physical and defend the front of the net.
If NASH went there, there was someone there defending rather than chasing
Weird to stay home a little more - PatShart
I doubt that King - after one practice - got his message across any better than Colliton, or put in any kind of new strategy or tactics.
This was the players finally deciding to play the way they’ve learned since they were 5 years old. They know how to play hockey, they know how to play defense and protect the net. |

Hmmm, just look at 56s minutes and the line combinations, all coaches control. On ice match ups and so on.
How effective was line 1 and 2, 5 on 5 |

That was, in fact, what King and Crawford supposedly told them to do. You've played since you were 5 or 6, get out there and play on instinct, have fun.
Said earlier they were just too tightly wound.

Actually, it is something as easy of an adjustment to tell your defenceman to play more of a protect the net/near posts more than chase the pucks/pressure the corners to force up the boards/to wingers

The last thing this team needs is the injury bug…
Hopefully Hagel and Entwhistle are ok. |

I’d rather see Beaudin or Mitchell right now. Even Phillips is a better option. |

For 3rd pair minutes, I like what we’ve seen from Phillips.
I’d prefer Beaudin and Mitchell stay in Rockford for more ice time and development. |

Did Colliton tell them to do otherwise - to have three Hawks chanse the puck below the goal line, to have 2 Hawks chase the same opponent to the boards?
It’s a simple game, no matter the “system” - and these guys know how to play the game. Protect the net. Don’t leak out to soon. Quick short passes to get out (altho that still needs some improvement).
I don’t know why they didn’t play the game they KNOW how to play for Colliton. Maybe you’re right - that King told them to play the way they know how, and they finally listened. |

It's amazing how much better our outlet passes were because of it. We could actually put pressure on the opponent

Here's an outside the box idea. Since Jones will ALWAYS be the starting dman in OT, they should work with him on taking that initial faceoff in overtime. I'm thinking his hands are stronger than Debrincat or Kane's. It's not that difficult to learn. Whether he wins or loses that draw he goes back on D obviously.

Nice win, only 21 SOG for Preds, that has to be the lowest total allowed in three years. Hope Hagel is okay, same for #58. DK has as many wins in one game as JC had in twelve. Look, the Hawks aren’t winning the cup this year, all I ask for is watchable games and seeing the kids improve week to week and month to month. Bold move by DK to start Lankinen, glad he did. Murphy with almost 27 minutes of TOI, didn’t know he was a top four Dman, or so I hear. |

I do not know if any changes were made to the schemes played, but I wonder if this team never had an issue with the system, but had a problem with the coach. I truely think they just quit on JC. |

I'm sure some of it is just platitudes from the players, but all of their comments thus far hold Colliton in pretty high regard.
"Smart hockey mind"
"Great future ahead of him"
"He’s been great to me my whole time here. Definitely has made me a better player.”
I think he has the intelligence and demeanor to be a decent coach. He just needs to find a way to get what is in his head to translate to the players on the ice. It obviously doesn't matter anymore, but it will be interesting to see what his next move ends up being how he ends up. |

There is something definitely wrong with Toews, Captain No So Serious...He looks dazed, a deer in a headlight...can not finish the play and out of gas..Playing like he is carrying extra 15 lbs.

It's possible that while he obviously didn't tell them to make the mistakes/mental errors, he gave them so many "how to" for each situation that they were overthinking. Zawaski just reminded of this quote from Keith. At the time I wrote it off a bit to Keith just missing/preferring Q, but maybe JC did overcomplicate the game for them.

Pretty common (something like 30%) of long COVID sufferers do have cognitive issues. Would not surprise me, but would make me sad.
Definitely does not seem like himself. To me, he seems very angry and defensive these days, but then with everything that is happening, can't say I blame him. He's always been terrible at hiding his feelings.
