I got a solution for your mental struggles about the Hawks BTD, and it would bring smiles and humor to your life-

Enter stage left, new head coach Bruce Boudreau. First, he will dress and play Strome every night and give him lots of ice time. Second, you will laugh your ass off after every shift when the camera zeroes in on his face turning a dark crimson colour like a heat map while he gives Strome sh$t for being slow, lazy, weak physically, overpaid and a defensive liability.

Loved that visual of BB. Don't expect he's into players feelings all that much. Time has arrived to quit coddling the clown show.

Plain and simple...Fleury cost us the game...THREE goals that should have been SIMPLE saves...my dead grandmother could have stopped that 5 hole breakaway goal. My opinion is that he wants to jump ship...regrets decision to play with Hawks...NO FOCUS AT ALL....

He loses his net a lot and flops around Iike a dead fish and handles the puck like a hand grenade. That's not fleury I am custom to watching.

Maybe he is leading the room in "We are not playing for this coach anymore". It's easy to say they are playing for him, but to watch the games says something else.

Does anyone have a reliable link to free streaming of NHL games? I was using Bilasport for the past year, and now they're just offering previews, without the streams they used to have.

Rick in Burlington or Paul in Toronto area,

Can you tell what the Toronto game plan is....in light of reports suggesting they have a glut of dmen?

The system they play, or maybe let us just say the preoccuoatiin with the high powered offense....makes me wonder why trade a dman because how much better can you make this offense?

Conversely, do you really want to trade young talent
From blueline depth. Sanbeim, Lillegren stay or leave? Holl has played top four minutes previously. Dermot won't bring appreciable help. I just come up with, they want to add a certain type style veteran dman? After all, a.o ell in net is descent t. Added Kampf. Adding another forward and his TOI on a loxed group of forwards....doesn't take add up.

Theo,
"Rockford (your files)"

Your description of McLaughlin as well as from what I have HEARD ON ROCKFORD BROADCASTS derived from theAHL.com site, leaves me wondering whether Bowman or the new GM will give this kid a shot. Even a rookie line perhaps?

He could make a surprisingly youth dominated third line pretty darn good defensively and offensively. Dare to say to take NHL opponents by surprise. On nights when DeBrincat or Kane don't score, the surprising depth could shoot down opponents

I have no indication as to rough physical play deterring McLaughlin. What do you say, Theo?

Khaira and Stillman can play in the US but not Canada right now because it's been more than 10 days since they got COVID (which is the NHL requirement) but less than 14 (which is the Canada entry requirement), in my understanding

I’m not advocating for Gus to get sick, but why can’t he go on Covid Protocol?

I will try to answer:

1) The Maple Leafs only work with long term plans, very long term- they are in the 55th year of putting the finishing touch on a Cup winner. Will let you be the judge of whether or not they have a roster in place to do it. I think there is more work to do - maybe another 10 to 15 years.

2) No glut of defenceman - Muzzin, Brodie, Reilly, McDermott, Sandin, Lilgegren. Last 2 are kids, McDermott is a 5-6 at best. Nothing in the minors. Any big injuries they are in big trouble. Holl has fallen out of favour, not dressed last few games.

3) Goalies - have only 2 of NHL level. Campbell has been very good, Mrazek - just OK if not injured. 3rd stringer is Hutchison, impossible to win with him.

All of their money is tied up in Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander. Do or die with them.

They make the playoffs because Detroit, Montreal, Buffalo and Ottawa are in their division.

Expressions we all have heard and maybe taken to heart sometimes become a staple in our lives. They just continue to remain true as we age

Now I present two remarkable hockey players. Still going strong aftermath years of tread.
Ike fi e wine they get better with age

No ot quite a proper description
Maybe someone can offer a good expression

Age is no detract to performance.

That is a tad better

P Bergeron just had four goals in a game

Ovechkin has 9 in 9

Thoughts from Canes fan after watching 1.5 games since my stream stopped working in the second.

MAF is an all or nothing goalies always has been dudes as capable of stealing a game as he is losing one. Not sure what y’all expected, it was somewhat masked by very good Pittsburgh teams, less so in Vegas.

As for Dach he seemed out of shape and weak on the puck to me. Also it looked like at times he was trying to do too much. I wouldn’t go full blown panic on the kid yet. You can tell he sees the game at a high level but it was like his body couldn’t keep up with his mind. A good strength and conditioning coach I think would go a long way for him.

The forward group needs to have better defensive awareness in all three zones whether it’s covering a pinching dman. Back checking etc. For a group of supposed grinders didn’t really look like they cared about their forte. If that group isn’t going to play defense why not let Strome, Reichel, and Nylander play at least they have some offensive potential.

Kane is Kane dude’s still a monster. Seeing Toews not playing like Toews was eye opening, if he wasn’t getting paid 10 mil and Chicago had better depth he’d be better served playing a J Staal role. DeBrincant is going to get killed one day trying to do it all himself, until then he’ll continue being the second greatest threat on this team.

Fun nugget Stillman played a lot better than I was expecting. Since his Dad played for the Canes it’s always a cool thing to see. Also even though the defense wasn’t good I felt that a lot of it’s problems could be solved by forwards having that awareness or willingness to back check.

Bergeron has a 4g game.

I wonder if Cassidy is still giving him top responsibility when it comes to D matchups as well, for the Selke winner.

I bet 100% yes. And if he didn't, Captain Bergeron - and that team - would all be like WTF, Cassidy. But Bruce gets it.

Colliton has neutered Toews. John's entire hockey career he has been given that top assignment. Whole career. Olympics with best if the best. He got it.

Now? Colliton hands/gifts those minutes to Mackenzie Entswittle while Toews slumbers around with Carpenter.

Here come "Well Toews hasn't played well shut anyone down etc., etc., etc." Players like Toews push themselves hard to meet challenges like that. He's just a player now

He's +30. Hard minutes his life. why the F can't they put Kane with him and relieve pressure AND let them run??

Bergeron has had Marchand and Pasternak for years. Clockwork

Hawks "cant go nuclear with Toews and Kane" because that's just unfair to the rest of the league? What in the F??

You see it with Keith when he's not asked to carry a team/chase defenders all over a zone at 37....he's still very capable. He'd actually be a phenomenal pair with Jones, IMO. But no doubt he wanted out of Colliton.

Q split Toews and Kane because he specifically matched lines.

Told Toews - be better than your matchup tonight. And more times than not, John wins.

And Kane lakes whoever he plays with better - he just needs his linemates to create space for him

But splitting those 2 - means you need to get them in their desired matchups or it's pointless

What is the justification for Colliton NOT playing Toews and Kane together? His ONLY answer? "He wants to spread the scoring"

Please tell me. How has that worked out for 3 years now? All "spread out"?

Can't put Toews/Kane together...and Dach/Debrincat together....and just "experiment" around that? No matchups necessary as it's not his game. Its fine. Then put players together that can make the team/players successful

While I think McLaughlin deserves an ELC, I don't think he gets one. He could get strung along on one-year AHL deals but at that point he could seek a greener pasture in another organization instead.

As for whether physical play deters McLaughlin, the answer is no. He's like Kane in that he's elusive and adept at avoiding getting hammered by bigger opponents. At the same time, though, McLaughlin also isn't shy to venture through traffic.
