Thinking about it, i guess what really bothered me about last night's game is, we were up 3-1 but the way we played with the 2 goal lead you would of thought the Canes were winning 3-1.

Seth Jones with a terrible pinch gets bailed out by Gus once, the 2nd time not so much, and it's Jones who turns the puck over. I understand a forward has to cover for the dman but isn't there any responsibility on the pinching dman?

Basically all the Canes had to do is sit back and wait for the Blackhawks to try to force something with a 2 goal lead. At what point does a defenseman say hey were up by a couple of goals maybe i should only be aggressive on the plays i know i can make.

Very frustrating and sure if they were a bit more conservative maybe Carolina still wins, I'd rather have that than giving it away.

That McCabe pass was brutal last night, and the overreaction playing defense trying to make up for his terrible pass just compounds the problem.

Just to be clear i was frustrated with Dach skating the puck into the boards last night and turning it over, 5, 6, 7 times

Gus made one nice play to break up the 2 on 1, and a whole bunch of horrible plays. On the Jarvis goal, Jones had jumped into the zone. Gus just cannot pinch at that point, and once he does he has to commit to either getting to the puck or taking the body on the man, he did neither.

McCabe has been really bad all season. I am hoping it is just am adjustment to new team/system and coming back from injury and that his play starts to improve.

Well good effort last night against a very good team .Still a loss and that don't sell on main street .Rocky is more concerned with damage control now then the product on the ice .
Watching that game last night lost count at the amount of times I yelled shoot the puck , get the puck to the net and go to the net its not rocket science .All those big boys in the line-up last night should have been able give Anderrson a tough night .
I would like to see Mark Hunter move into the GM spot if not him I hope it a true hockey man who has played some games Jimmy Rutherford would be a good replacement also . GO HAWKS !!!!

Everyone should probably prepare themselves for the fact that the new GM is probably already in place. Kyle Davison will probably eventually just have the interim tag removed.

Gotta do something at this point. Remove JC and make Crawford interim. Then if interim is removed from Davidson he can pick his own or stay with Crawford. Maybe it doesn't make a difference at this point, maybe it does.

In all honesty how can they stay with this coach? Does he make it through the season?

We kidded about Toews being a 3C, but with 0 goals and 6 assists in eleven games, playing with Hagel and Carpenter, maybe he is really the fourth line C 🤔

I fear that all a new Coach accomplishes at this point is to improve the team just enough to knock our draft position back into the 3-10 range. Might be better in the long run to keep losing and hope the lottery gods are kind enough to get us a top 2 pick. I’m sure Columbus would like us to improve just a little bit.

I was actually surprised by how out of sync his hands seem. Missing a full year will do that I guess but geez

You have to wonder what that means for Eichel coming back. Obviously he's a younger man but who knows how he will return.

Its so dependent on who he plays with. He gets minutes with Kane on Monday and low and behold...3 points. Collitons biggest fault (aside from the system no one can seem to play) is that his line combinations just suck. If Carpenter has to play put him on the 4th line where he belongs. Hagel should be part of a 3rd line that is hard to play against. Constantly seeing Colliton put guys like Khaira, Carpenter, etc in the top lines is just.......no.

Carolina had Jordan Martinook stapled to the top line all night and Svechnikov playing with Staal and Jesper Fast.

Coaches do weird poop sometimes.

Karma being the female dog it is, the Hawks would finish with the 2nd worst record, and wind up losing the lottery and moving to 3rd which would go to CLB

Not sure what everyone's infatuation here with Crawford is? He's a washed up his day has come and gone and will never be a head coach hopefully guy.

Probably.

I’m guessing Stan thought the moves he made last off-season were enough to ensure that pick was not likely going to be top 10.

ASF

Notice Vegas protected the pick they just traded for Eichel for top 10. That Jones trade is going to be the gift that keeps giving.

No infatuation. Need to see Colliton gone, and would like to see proper consideration given to picking the next coach, so Crawford is just a stopgap. Heck, move King up from Rockford (just tell him to leave JC's systems there) if you don't like Crawford. You have an interim GM with no real connections other than what he has built with the Hawks over 10 years, in reality the whole coaching staff needs to go except maybe Waite.

When your hands and legs go in this game you don't get them back quickly, if ever.

And it isn't only Toews, same sort of thing with Matt Duchene and Ryan Johansen. Nashville is stuck with those two $8M deals for a long time. Draisatl made Duchene look like Michal Handzus a couple of times last night.

It's really hard, no matter how good a team is, to overcome bad goaltending.

2 of the 4 goals are on MAF. The Jarvis goal, even after Gus made his horrible pinch and lost the puck, but he hustled back and bothered Jarvis. Jarvis never shot the puck, it slipped off his stick and went under MAF.

The CAR announcer's quote, "Jarvis loses the handle but it gets through Fleury".

Might as well give Subban or Delia a shot at this point. MAF looks like Turco.

I believe that is something this entire board agrees on, 56 is not a very good, consistent defenseman, twitter world same thing, Hawk Fandom same thing

This coaching staff giving the green light to let Jones activate whenever he wants, per Colby last night on the broadcast, is maddening when you have 56 as his partner. Talk about putting 2 players in position to hurt your team.

When i watch Jones in the ozone, he shouldn't be activating ever, i see what JFresh was talking about, he's bad in the offensive zone, he should be patrolling the blue line a lot like Campbell did and throwing pucks back behind the net if they come out

That's 3 games in a row his pinch led to 2 on 1s going the other way

Jones is 4th in the league for defenseman in points. Just horrible offensively

Did you watch Campbell before he was a Hawk?

Did you watch how Josi plays for Nashville last year?

Just a point of clarification: if the Hawks do get one of the top 2 picks in the 2022 draft, their 1st round pick in 2023 goes to the Jackets instead.

Are you comparing Josi to Jones?

Who's Josi's defensive partner? I don't think they have anyone who plays defense worse than Gus.

I think Josi also understands if he activates his forwards need to have possession of the puck.

Yes I am comparing Josi to Jones. And Jones should play like Marco Scandella because somehow he and Gus were on the ice together? I though deHaan was Jones partner. Was it a bad defensive line change? Did Gus linger instead of getting off because the puck was in the offensive zone? Did Brookbank (who handles the D on the bench) have a brain fart?

I thought you said Theo that Beaudin has not been very good? I guess Kalnyuk and or C. Jones are not ready to come back yet.
