Niku > Wideman.
It's not even close.
And there's the odd chance Niku, as a young player, might learn and get better.
Wideman is what he is. - Scabeh
In the last 18 months (and probably 8 years), rookies / young kids are rarely an option when over the hill vets are available to play.

Seriously who gets named richard and goes by Richard? If Ric Flair went by Richard, instead of limousine ridin' and jet flyin' he'd be couch loafin' and hockeybuzz postin' |

i mean i wouldn't consider Niku a young guy. he's older than Connor McDavid.

Not very confident in that 2nd PP...

25 is still not that old, some defensemen take time to become good. See: Jeff Petry. |

I agree that at 25, Niku is likely close to what he's going to be so expecting massive growth from him is unlikely. That said, on this poop box team he's a plus player scoring at about a 33 pt per 82 game pace which I'll take everyday of the week on my 3rd pair |

Remember, people here suggested this was 40 to 50 point potential 3C Adam Brooks. Hespek the name |

He is, still some soreness in the area where the puck hit him, they don't want to take any chance. |

and i think having Darche or Weal on the PP does not sink to the depth of having a waiver wire pickup who has been mostly a healthy scratch for a 3-8 team pivot your second unit.

I laughed too hard at this, probably because of how on the nose it is...and I really like Paul Byron |

I guess I look at it this way, Niku has a much bigger chance to be part of a (longer) term plan for the Habs than Wideman.
Or at least, should.
So play the guy you expect to be part of the team longer more often and see what you got and, more importantly, see if he can become a better player.

Paul Byron skating has better audience ratings than the habs' games this year. |

Yeah, I like Byron too. Overpaid, but he's great on the PK and brings speed. It's just that they need more help than that. |

He's not good enough to be a healthy scratch on other teams so he gets waived, which likely means in Montreal he's a top scoring option I guess |

I'm not sure if prime Beliveau and Robinson showed up they could turn this thing around |
