Bettman going to talk today about his meeting with Beach today. - LAHawk
I wonder what kind of pictures Chevy has to be able to walk away from this clean?

Re following the org:
Everyone but Toews and Kane are gone from that era so it should be interesting to see what the new group does or who they bring in to fill out the new group in terms of front office staff. I'm interested to see how they move forward.
Re them losing due to puck luck:
Some of that is the case but the game was there for the taking against STL the other day. The Blues were giving the puck away in their own zone and the Hawks ideally would have put 2 of those away. Not being able to take advantage of gifts is problematic and their defending in general is still pretty poor though at least in the STL game they had bodies in front of the net more than they have.
A lot of that is due to the poor shots they are taking. Lots of one and done flippers from the half boards. I think its one where on paper maybe they should be 2-7 or 3-6 instead of 0-9 but its tough to argue that they have deserved to win even half of the games they have played.
The roster (to go with the on paper theme) is good enough for them to be a wildcard team, maybe third in the central. While not a standout team by any means they shouldn't be this bad. I'm a pretty big fan of looking at the numbers but the implication that it is bad luck rather than poor play that has them in this spot is not so much the case IMO. |

It’s obvious that it’s because Cheveldayoff is the GM of a Canadian team. Bettman hates Americans especially Chicagoans. |

He had as much responsibility as Bowman did. In fact everyone in that room (by knowing) are all to blame. McD the most to blame though.

Thats funny but partly true. Although Bettman would not want to piss off the Winnipeg fans a second time.

Who knows, Winnipeg fans and media may think Chevy bears responsibility too and shouldn't be given the pass he got as the only exception. |

The perp was working for the Blackhawks, and they didn't handle it properly. They also have the big checking account balance. I guess Beach could sue McDonough, Bowman, Q, each individual member of the 2010 Blackhawks for covering up? - LAHawk
The problem is penalizing them for something you know in the present that the past they maybe knew nothing about at the time. If it was a "harassment" claim and not an "assault" claim, then while the Hawks made mistakes in not removing Aldrich from contact, and not investigating further, there was nothing criminal. What would Beach be suing McD, Bowman, etc. for? They committed acts of poor judgement, they did nothing criminal. |

“Bad luck” doesn’t last for 9 games. This is a well-earned 0-7-2.
Players at / to the net: you need some kind of ozone presence to have players to to the net, and take advantage of them. Hawks haven’t established any king of consistent ozone presence in any of the 9 games played. Everything is off of the rush - or a desperation shot off the rush, theforward in all alone without any support because his line mates are going off for a change because they spent the whole shift getting the puck out of the dzone. Goalie sees the unsupported shot, stops it, and with no forecheck to contend with, sends the puck to a teammate and back the other way.
You can’t score enough pucks on the rush to win - you can’t win without have a consistent ozone play.

Why is Colliton still here? - CanHawk
I think everyone is wondering this. The last week put the whole dynamic in the backseat, but the on ice performance has stayed the same, horrible. Fleury and lankinen can stand on their heads and still get demolished because Colliton’s system leads to too many outstanding chances against. He refuses to change this, and therefore should go. |

Who is in charge to let him go? Team management is in a state of flux, no? Haven't seen any rumors as to what direction they are going to go/any candidates are on the radar.

Hawks are 100% gonna eat it big time on this settlement.
NHL likes to show how woke it is. With the Washington / Snyder stuff going on in the NFL, there will be little negotiation. I bet NHL heavily involved in settling and they wont have any issues spending Wirtz money. |

Aldrich was an employee of the Blackhawks, if the Blackhawks handled it properly we wouldn't be even talking about settlements, or executives coaches resigning. Even if Aldrich was an independent contractor, with how the Hawks handled it they are liable. That is why there is E & O insurance. Errors and Omissions. Hawks are on the hook for the settlement 100%. - LAHawk
Liable for what? Pain and Suffering? Is he going to sue because he never made the NHL. He was there for 4 years after the incident, which included signing a second contract with them. |

Right. Gonna be tough to actually prove when you were employed by them for 4 more years, which included signing a new contract.
The Hawks will settle because PR/Optics wise its the proper thing to do, not because they fear losing a court case, but I would guess that they will push back if the ask becomes something ridiculous.

How much do they push back? Last thing Hawks want to do is to have this go to trial. Then all these interviews that the investigator did, will be redone under sworn testimony. Do the Hawks want this lingering for another 2-3 years?

Davidson is interim GM, it’s his call or Danny/Rocky. I kind of hope they go with an interim coach and let the next GM and President of Hockey Ops pick from the cast of fired coaches at the end of the year. I like Julien or Boudreau but neither would have me excited. |

I’d like to see Stillman come off Covid Protocol as well, then maybe they’ll sit my favorite defenseman. |

I can’t imagine who that would be!
Though I must say, that was an impressive hip check on Saturday. |
