let's also not forget, because this organization has become so comically dysfunctional, that the second AHL goalie just very publicly called out the organization for coddling Primeau and not giving him a real opportunity. - DoubleDown
I liked Chantal's Macabée's take this morning, Petry when she sees him in the hotel lobby can barely walk, Gallagher is injured to every part of his body. They had the shortest summer ever, no time to heal let alone get in shape for the season. They had a terrible camp, they can't practice because everybody is injured and can't get back into shape because they don't practice.
I'm just taking it has a sacrifice year, the price to pay for that SCF.

I see room for negative growth.
Anybody want to defend the Dvorak trade or argue it wasn't awful? It may be the most inexcusable move of the summer...after the draft pick - Takemedrunkimhome
let's wait. maybe he's dealt later in the season for a pick that ends up being better than Carolina's.
Much like Price's contract everybody knew "they had to" do it and everybody knew it would be overpriced and wouldn't age well. It is what it is. Habs will need some vets that do things the right way while they rebuild and that likely is Gallagher.
Of MB's many sins, Gallagher's contract isn't near the top - which says more about MB than anything

He was available all summer. No takers. Habs overpay with a 1st and a 2nd (don't forget the 2nd). May they get a 1st for him? They might if a team is desperate...I'm guessing if they trade him they end up at a net loss but if they trade him at the deadline it's an even greater indictment of the trade and it's original rationale. It was a bad trade at the time (as I insisted) and it's only getting worse as we go
Need a new GM for that to happen, MB will never admit he made a mistake (or rectify it). - Mashadar
Not sure fans are even ready to give up the dream and admit it yet...Remember when the Habs awesome wingers were going to make him into a quality 2C? Funny you don't see that argument anymore

Speaking of Bergy sins, who else believe's that the assistant GM in charge of player developpement was the only one in the entire Chicago organisation not aware what happened to Beach, a first round pick up and down with their farm club?

Plausible deniability...when you hold legal standards for moral decisions it's obvious that money and the coverup are more important

Paquette at league minimum for example - Takemedrunkimhome
I mean just for Covid reasons you need a guy like that around in case there's a breakout. Should he be a regular center on your club? Should Josh Brooks be your third?

where do you think he's going to hold staff meetings now that Club Super Sexe burned down?

And I think Bergy's moral compass has a variable north

All of which is to say MB signed a guy who shouldn't take NHL shifts because he built an organization with no prospect depth or options and he signed a guy he knew wasn't good to satisfy the Quebecois media that trashed him for not having a Quebecois player on the roster at one point last season. You can't ignore the Quebecois element of this signing
