You’re just lucky Pierre is employed at the moment or it would be him…

I’d like you to be right, but i doubt you are....Don’t see Molson pulling the trigger now, would be an exercise in futility since nothing would change because of it. Let his contract run its course and really search for the replacement this season, announce them as soon as the season is over and move forward. Give the new GM the freedom to bring his own staff abord even if it means paying a coach and 4 assistants for nothing for 2 more years. The Bell Centre isnt full anymore, this team is losing money as it is...
- Karine Hains

Makes sense but are you not risking him trading more picks and prospects to take another run?

Not if you tell him to stay put, which Molson can do.

the point is to give the new guy plenty of time. if you name him in May that doen't give him much time before the end of the season, the draft, the UFA date...
and I don't believe a new gm would change the coaching staff right away. he would at least give them till the end of the season, maybe more.

That’s fair. I’d like them to start the rebuild ASAP. Wishful thinking, I know. I just don’t see a point sitting idle right now.

well he has a position with the senaturds but he isn't GM, I'm sure he'd say yes if the habs offered him the job...

Because as long as Carey price is on the roster, he thinks they have a shot at the cup. Yes they are 2nd to last, but still lots of time to get back into if poop turns around. Look at what the blues did. Not saying I agree with this, just saying I fear that it’s his mentality

I just want them to take their time for the new hire, don’t just go for the first french speaking guy out there, search for THE best candidate and interview the hell out of him, once you have your man, he can start planning even if u only name him post season.

But it has to be the best French candidate tho right? And I don’t want to be offensive but that’s the reality of the situation isn’t it?

yup, but usually there are always some interesting francophone candidates to choose from, so it shouldn't be that much of an issue.

The good news is once Price comes back with his 840 save percentage we will be even worse than we are now and greatly increase our odds for a lottery pick.

OR he comes back feeling better than he's ever felt before as a hab, provides his team with stellar goaltending, and successfully carries his team to the playoffs, at which point Weber announces against all odds that he had been following an intensive physiotherapy and training program, and that he'll be 100% and able to play in the post-season.
