The problem is no one has cap space.

So you have to find someone with a poopty contract that wants the player.... just limits your options. If MB had dome this way earlier, before the season, then maybe he could set the team up better for next summer.

the rangers were ridiculed when they published a letter to their fans explaining their rebuild strategy, but I find it was at least honest and transparent. funny how "transparency" was a buzzword for the habs not so long ago and now they've reestablished their ability to keep secrets and share a bare minimum of information.

Fox forced the trade from Carolina though and only wanted NY, and Panarin was only ever gonna play for the Rangers.

Habs do nto have the luxury of players wanting to be (or forcing) traded to this city, and free agents are not coming here unless there is no cap room elsewhere.
