he can admire his buddy's biceps all he wants, but given his actual track record I have a hard time believing Bergevin would be adamant about keeping him to the point where he'd refuse an extension. - Pat1993
MB has some very nice qualities. one of them is that he is loyal. imo Molson wants him to fire Timmins and MB refuses. that is the road block imo. |

he'll sink with him.
and I would not be surprised if that is the reason MB has not signed an extension yet. - fidopro
I think it was the Chicago thing that was holding things up, and now, it is just the poor team performance.
I still think there will be a house cleaning after the game tomorrow.

It’s better this way then finishing 5 th in the division and drafting in the 10-16 window. |

yeah, I disagree on that, I guess I refuse to think he could atually be that blinded by his Timmins bro love boner lol... besides, Bergevin said so himself, "if you want loyalty, get a dog".

and lets not forget. they won in SJ because Allen stood on his head. they could easily be 1-8. not that it would make a big difference but still |

I have no problem if they had decided to dismantle in the off season, after knowing about Weber, that KK and Daneault were gone... the team heading in a nosedive seemed really obvious to many people.
They had a decent opportunity to reset with some picks and use their cap space wisely.
I am frustrated that instead, they wasted a 1st and 2nd on a center that will not help in a rebuild (nothing against the player, he seems alright) and gave some big contracts out. They should have kept the picks, taken picks / prospects for bad contracts, etc...
Now all that becomes harder moving forward.
That is what is making it hard for me to watch, knowing MB (if given the chance), will try to get help to improve the team at the cost of picks / prospects... and still miss the playoffs by a mile.

Kevin Cheveldayoff was able to keep his job, so it would seem it might not be such a determining factor after all |

I don't think Timmins is that terrible in evaluating talent, at least, he is middle of the pack in the league. You wanna get rid of him, sure. Whatever.
I still think it comes down to direction from the GM on who to pick (and what they see as the most pressing need) plus terrible player development.
You wanna throw it all on Timmins, go ahead, I don't care. But let's have a little honesty about the whole process here...

agreed with the last part. the need to find a center is not on Timmins. the way they built the dcore is not on Timmins. Timmins is still terrible imo. the draft record is there to prove it.
fire them both! |

Allen has been the Habs best player all season.
By a lot.
And that just pretty much is all you need to sum up the Habs' season.

McDavid with only 1 point and 4:45 left in that game... FFS, get a move on it son, I need a goal, preferably a PPG. |

Well I mean you could probably get some of that back if you traded devorak near the deadline. I still think lots of players on this team would have value if you wanted to start the rebuild now |

I am in a tight battle this week.
McDavid is really my only player scoring, so if he is not getting 3 points a night, I might be screwed.
Come to think about it, I now know what it feels like to be a member of the Oilers... |

perso, I have 3 guys I'd consider untouchables. Suzuki, Dvorak (only because he is a center) and Anderson.
all the others could go. and I mean all. don't need to trade them all, but all would be available.
get a center and a dman. we'll fix the holes after.
and borderline Dvorak, since he would be my #3C. so if he needs to go, so be it. |

The problem is no one has cap space.
So you have to find someone with a poopty contract that wants the player.... just limits your options. If MB had dome this way earlier, before the season, then maybe he could set the team up better for next summer.

drafting has been an issue for this organization for quite some time now, even before MB was nominated GM... I get what you're saying, as the GM does have the final say, but I'm convinced Bergevin rarely went against Trevor's opinion.
anyway, I'm fed up with the current situation and I do hope the habs make important staff changes soon if things continue to go this way, but at the end of the day I'm just not very enthused by the current potential GM replacements list |

Personally I think anybody you don’t see being on this team in 5 years should be moved now when they still have value. |

yeah that's a total rebuild. not sure they'll go there.
but 2 big trades, one for a center and one for a dman. then fix the holes. |
