my guess is they'd be playing for .500 - Pat1993
and you base that on?
you think they would have scored more goals? nope.
maybe they would have allowed less on the PK, that's about it imo. |

Three more losses in a row and its bye bye Bergevin and his stupid never ending plan of squeaking into the playoffs and hoping Price performs miracles.
Start selling and collecting as many firsts as you can for the Bedard draft.
Do everything necessary to get rid of the Gallagher contract. Years of playing the way he did has caught up..Dont wait two years until its painfully obvious his contract is hurting the team. Do it now.
Next years team needs to be Caulfield, Suzuki and a bunch of Chinese guys. Preferably small, slender and never played hockey before

the way I see it, a lot of their issues are due to what's going on between their ears, perhaps losing in the cup final combined with all the bad news surrounding the team that occurred since then has taken its toll, and they're now simply too self-aware about their odds of having success with an Allen-Montembeault duo... |

After a 44 save game, Allen should have sat this one out, Montembeault should have started......No worries, Douchecharme will rescue all with his brilliance. |

Allen has a .917 save %. He’s doing his job good enough. |

oh I know, generally speaking Allen's play has been part of the solution more than the problem, but they usually have a bit more confidence in their game when Price is in the lineup.

I would agree, sad to see him go but that's the move to make. |

I know a lot of people don't necessarily like him very much but I still think he's a good coach and knows what he's doing, I'm just starting to wonder how come he isn't getting his message across... it's kind of concerning how everyone just looks lost out there on so many plays throughout a period or game.

Ya. I know what you mean. I just think they are an easy team to play against now. Not a lot of talent up the middle or on defence. All their money is tied up on the wings. |

yeah, whatever the reasons are they've become a ridiculously fragile team... I know they've been through tough times during all those years following their last cup win in 93 but this is definitely the most discombobulated version of the habs that I can recall in quite some time. |

100%. if you go back and look at the Stanley cup winners recently, pretty much every team has a legit #1 centre and a stud on defence. Habs may have one in Petry, but nick Suzuki isn’t the answer at centre. He will be a good #2, but they are missing the guy to drive the bus like teows, Crosby,Bergeron, kopitar etc did for their runs. |

true, and the habs might have become a victim of their own "tradition" of being a team built around stellar goaltending... I doubt we'll be seeing goalies getting 10M+ contracts anytime soon again, no matter how good they are. |

the guy had 9 years to do it, time to move on. let him go now, not in April.

No it’s not worth it. The difference between a 6 million dollar goalie and 11 million dollar goalie isn’t very much. The same can’t be same about any other position. |

the problem with the goalie is that he only plays 55 games. what do you do for the other 27?? are McDavid and Crosby playing 60% of the games? |

Ya, it has to be done, whether the fans will support it or not. You can only patch it together and rely on price to get 16 wins in the playoffs for so long. |

somewhere between the laffs having too many dollars invested in 4 forwards and the habs spending too much $$$ between the pipes and on defense, there's a nice middle ground.

Ya, I don’t understand why that changed. Didn’t brodeur, roy hasek etc usually play north of 70 games in their prime? You pay a goalie 10 + million, he better not be wearing a ball cap 25 games or more |

the money Habs spend is not that badly allocated (between offense and defense). it's just that instead of centers they have wingers. and to many stay at home dmen, not enough pmd. they are built to play defense with Price and big dmen. that's playoffs hockey. if you can make it there! |
