As someone who's definitely dropped the F-bomb at times in my life there's a huge difference between calling someone a fag when you're (frank)in around with your buddies and using it when rumors of homosexual experiences took place.

Well we have two extreme sides in this country. The far left and the far right. Both are intolerable. The far left want everything to be about race, sexuality, etc... The far right won't acknowledge any of it because they're so angry at the far left. That's pretty much what's going on in your post.

I'm not necessarily saying you're a far right person, but clearly don't want to acknowledge the comments as homophobic slurs because it means "they" are right.

- Rinosaur

Thanks.

Admittedly, I was being provocative.

Was the treatment of Kyle Beach somehow worse because of the sexual nature of the comments? I don't think so.

I think the fact that the organization swept the whole thing under the rug is awful in and of itself. The fact that players then laughed it all off and harassed him does, in fact, make me empathize with Beach all the more. But invoking "homophobia" is vacuous. They treated the guy terribly.

Long time fan of Quenneville. Even though he is one of the best of all time, he should never coach another game in the NHL. End of story.

People are calling Kane, Toews and Keith liars about what they did and did not know, but none of you guys really can say whether they are lying or telling the truth. Clearly many players knew, but not necessarily all of them. All you can do is speculate and that isn't really fair to them. People only want to hear the truth if it fits their narrative.

With that being said, Toews and Kane both showed very poor taste in sticking up for Bowman and deserve some backlash for that.

- Hawkeynation

In Toews own statement, he said he learned about it in training camp. IF we are to believe that and go with that timeline....

As captain did he check in on Kyle?
Did he let his team know “lay off”, the kid is in need of help?
Did he do ANYTHING at all to help or be helpful? To actually show leadership?

By the sounds of it, the answer is no. Kyle was bullied -AFTER Toews knew about it- on the ice, in the locker room, arena etc. And he did NOTHING.

He deserves all the backlash he gets. He also doesn’t deserve to continue wearing that C imho

I actually agree with you here. And so my only problem is the use of the term "homophobia," as though it somehow refers to people with irrational fears. I don't call people "fags," but I am willing to question an agenda that--in world-historical terms--is only about five minutes old.

I can only imagine that one non-sequitur from this whole mess will be more gay pride nights throughout the NHL.

Oh, and by the way, I am a political moderate/independent.

When you're ridiculing someone for homosexuality, it's homophobic and that's what they were doing.

Homophobia also pertains to ridiculing or treating someone differently someone for being homosexual.

If I had to guess which player was cracking jokes my money would be on Patrick Kane.

If I had to guess, my money would be in the guy that scrapes the ice during Tv timeouts. My guess is as good as yours.

why didn't the rape victim go to the police? was he being threatened by the black cauks ?
- jtuzyk

You don’t know anything about rape victims do you? I mean, if you need to ask this question you clearly haven’t had many conversations with women over the last 20 years.

All this talk about what should happen to so and so. I have a question; why in the FRANK is no one talking about what should happen to Aldrich? You know, the actual rapist! There’s literally NO talk about him at all. Yes, The Hawks brass involved in sweeping this under the rug should be punished, and punished harshly. But why is no one talking about the biggest criminal in this whole scandal?? Is he dead, and I just haven’t found out yet?
- PavohnDatsvares

My guess is because it’s less fun for us to tear down someone not rich and famous who has a job that we are all envious of.
It makes us feel better to obsess over this particular deplorable act vs any other one reported in the news on a daily basis because it involves rich famous people.

OK...
How does a 27 years old video coach "forces" a 20 years old fit hockey player into a bj, if a said 20 years old is against it?
Fact is.. It could have possibly been anything, but it was hardly a "rape".

That's not what I said.... Girls are weaker and can't protect themselves as well.
Most guys would have clobbered that coach over the head, even at the hint of such "proposal"

Q and Chevy should announce that they are becoming Democrats and then the entire Party will back them and demand that no punishment happen because he is one of theirs, just like they have done numerous times with Clinton, Biden, Lt Gov of VA, etc etc...
- hockeygm

I know right!!! Only thing worse would be the Republican Party and what they let Trump get away with.

Pathetic.

Seeing some of the replies and comments about this help me understand how these kinds of things can happen. A few real scumbaggy, gatekeeper, hate-speech apologists around here.

Go ahead and logic and strawman your way into whatever justifications you want, this is a genuine tragedy and messed up several lives.

Talking about gay agendas and deciding what is considered rape and all the other paranoid psuedo Qanon level BS puts you in the wrong side of history.

Nobody is going to look back and say 'hey, what a great person that guy was for defending that rapist and how it happened, and making sure the archaic 'locker room talk' is maintained.'

Take a good look at yourselves, don't @ me because I'm not going to engage further with anyone who tries to defend this type of douchebaggery.

What's pathetic is people throwing around "Qanon" references and "rape" references in Fake Outrage outbursts.
Qanon is not real and fake as it gets and everyone knows that and "rape" assumes Criminal Charges!
Tell us when you see either be true, otherwise, sthu and let the story work itself out, whatever it is.

Don't be surprised, it's the same "geniuses" that bought into a "noose at the NASCAR garage" crap and the Jussie Smollett hoax and many others without even waiting for investigations to complete.
