What about M V P Nylander with the GWG AGAIN?

About time this guy gets some love around here.

- Scabeh

He’s been good for a while so didn’t need a mention. Bunting/Matthews not really meshing yet.

No, just talking his style more.

first it was Ritchie, now it's Bunting.. Maybe Matthews is the problem?

I agree with Garnie that the Leafs seem to pinch far too much and getting caught doing so.

I also agree with others who have said the 2M dollar fine is nothing to the Blackhawks and they should lose picks for this and have had a more severe punishment.

Lastly I have seen the solution to the Leaf woes on Twitter and thought I'd share:

1000% NHL is a joke, and they need to be called out big time.

I'd say that's highly unlikely.

Say what you want about MLSE not building a hockey team in the right way etc. but one thing they have been industry leaders in is things like equality, diversity and everyone being treated with respect etc.

They would have no tolerance, appetite or interest in brining in someone like coach Q in my opinion.

While this is true, the Toronto Maple Leafs have their own horrific past.

It was a different era, but everyone knew. Hell, I knew that there were creeps operating at Maple Leaf Gardens.

Everyone knew, and nobody did a damn thing about it.

How long ago was that however? I think the important thing to note is that was cleaned up, for all you can say about Dubas, I feel like he is on top of things like this, and equality.

I honestly know very little about it, but anything like that should be brought to light and punished severely.

there 1st round pick in the upcoming draft.

How many picks did Arizona loose for their pre-draft testing of players?
At least their 1st round pick as I recall.

and imo, this is worst than what Arizona did.

- dmnted

I think there needs to be a separation between a hockey punishment and an ethical punishment. What Arizona did was violate rules to gain a competitive advantage and hence they were punished in terms of picks - which is where they were trying to gain their advantage.

What the Blackhawks did was a moral and ethical violation - they didn't cheat the game of hockey. They covered up a felony. I would think a financial penalty makes more sense - but it should have been larger and all of it should be dispersed to appropriate charities.

I agree, another of the issues on the PP is no good net front presence.

1. Move Reilly off PP1 for a dman with a shot
2. Move Marner off PP1 for Bunting

Muzzin/Sandin - Point
Matthews - Side Board
Nylander - Side Board
JT - Bumper
Bunting - Net front

PP2
Reilly - Point
Marner -Side Board
Spezza - Side Board
Kase - Bumper
Ritchie - Net Front

- Archaic

I don’t mind Engvall on PP2, he can rip the puck…they need more ripping of the puck on net and bang and crash and score some garbage goals.

1970s-1980s.

Here's an article from 1997 - and interesting little note, back then it was referred to as a "sex scandal."

It wasn't sex.

It was the rape of children.

I'm really sick of everyone deflecting blame with the Kyle Beach situation. The PA now has put out a statement saying "There is no doubt that the system failed to support him in his time of need, and we are part of that system."

Like, Don Fehr knew according to reports and he said something would happen and nothing did. That's not the system failing the guy that's squarely on your shoulders.

Oh for sure, this is all the more reason exactly why they would want nothing at all to do with coach Q.

Florida let him coach last night. It's pretty clear they have no problem with what he did.

It's up the NHL to step in and do something about it on behalf of teams who are unwilling to do the right thing.

They can't fire Quenneville - but they can suspend for a duration long enough that it forces Florida's hand.

It was all pushed aside because they were on a cup run, even JQ apparently made this clear at the time.
Outside of a couple of staff members, it seems everyone failed Josh....for christ sakes they let the accused take the cup to a school but he had to go with two other reps from the team. You knew what this man was like and you still allowed him to raise the cup and celebrate with the team. After he was let go, he went on and abused another kid in his new job. The Blackhawks, PA and NHL failed that kid as well.

I agree.. It's on Donald Fehr and the Chicago coaches/management/ownership that did know about it.

I do think it's possible that maybe some of the players didn't know about it right away.. I don't think the perpetrator or the victim would brag about doing something like this, so I can understand that part.. Toews was the team captain, and he likely did know about it and did nothing either..

This whole thing is very disturbing.. A heavier fine should been the penalty and even a draft pick or two..

I cant believe he coached last night......heck didnt the NHL force Avery out of some games because he was accused of saying something sexist/perverted in the locker room about an ex?
He should not have been behind the bench last night.

Apparently, almost all the team knew. I read that they would make homophobic comments indirectly about it or relating to it. I believe Sopel and another former teammate came forward and said the team knew about it.

Florida is too precious for Bettman.

They are off to a hot start and attendance is decent for their standards...Bettman needs to show he can do the right thing here and not focus on building up a poor Florida Panthers market.

Yup - he was suspended indefinitely. Cited under "By-Law 17 and Article 6 of the NHL Constitution for conduct 'detrimental to the League or game of hockey.'"

I'm not sure how this could, in any way, not exceed that capacity.

Quennville is in the report stating "It's too difficult to get to the finals so we can't deal with this now."

They are pleading "I don't fully remember what was said" which like I think someone here claimed or another friend that sexual assault is so common you mix them up?

They put a kid in harms way with their inaction and I wish this went so far and so deep to fire pretty much everyone AND criminal charges against these people for the minor that was involved because they did nothing but let this guy resign and go work with minors.

Toews said he found out at training camp the next season so after winning the cup and training camp is like 3 months? I get he was just a kid himself then too but he had some pull. He could have gone to Kane and they together said "we deal with this our we sit out". What would chicago do? Not let their stars play?

JQ should be fired and Chevy in winnipeg too.

Further, everyone who knew and didn't do poop are accomplices. They can and should be charged and if they aren't criminally charged then they should feel lucky they only lost their job.

They franking wrote him a franking letter of recommendation, which he used to get positions at schools - including the one where he sexually assaulted a minor.
