Leafs just needed a win. They got it. Worked for it from a 2 - 0 deficit so gotta give them props. Doesn't matter how they did it or if it should have been easier. They just needed it.

I wouldn't go that far. PP still stinks and they squeaked by a really poop team. Win is great, but far from a work of art. Coach sucks ass, Marner has scored two assists in the last 43 games on the PP yet this genius of a coach keeps putting him out there on the point on the PP.

I never said they didn't need work. I said they just needed a win and didn't matter how they got it. It's most important to start getting on the right track.

I still think it's crazy this PP with such talent can't figure poop out. Coaches should just say "you're all pros..go do something" and let them do whatever.

Agreed re. needing any kind of win last night.

On the PP, I'd like to see the big boys divided into two groups. I don't like Ritchie in the top six 5v5 at all, and 2.5M for two years for a 4th liner is a tough contract. But I do like him right in the crease on the PP. Would like to see him there with some skill players around him on the PP.

Got home at midnight from hockey where my team got absolutely destroyed 9-4. No bad goals or goals that the goalie should have had obviously

At least as we slinked our way off the ice and into the room someone pulled up the score of the Leaf game and then all the frowns turned upside down and the parking lot beers tasted extra delicious.

I read back through this thread from when I left (pre game) until post game - it was quite humorous and entertaining so thanks for that.

Leafs win and that's what mattered, I don't care if it was ugly or lucky or if the game winner was a squeaker they needed a win for their confidence and to start to extinguish the flames in the dumpster......mission accomplished. They just need to build off that win and figure it out.

I'd say that's highly unlikely.

Say what you want about MLSE not building a hockey team in the right way etc. but one thing they have been industry leaders in is things like equality, diversity and everyone being treated with respect etc.

They would have no tolerance, appetite or interest in brining in someone like coach Q in my opinion.

Regardless I was happy to see him show some emotion and anger - he plays like a beast when he is angry.

I hate to say it but you have to wonder if a coach who rode him hard and he hated would bring that out of him more often? As much as people may say Babs is exactly that type of coach I don't think he was with Matthews (likely because MLSE told him he wasn't allowed to be).

Regardless Leafs Win! The world is right again, the koolaid is extra delicious today, good job Zez.

Unfortunately, I dont see Q getting let go and if he did, I dont see the Leafs hiring him.
Although prior to this, I would have loved to had him coach the leafs as hes exactly what they need.
But, things have changed now.
