Stopped reading there.
I'm not racist but
I respect freedom of speech but
I'm not blaming the victim but
Nobody cares about what you think of the victim, it's not you and you weren't there. - Not_Yan
In most cases, yes, you can and should disregard everything before the "but" in a sentence. |

Pdx...I didnt want to copy your post, but rather spot on
To now go after Toews and Kane based on nothing but speculation doesn't make sense.
IF there was some words/things "said" by players on ice/in dressing rooms ...IMO, they can
have those conversations as men amongst themselves
Zawaski can go F himself - PatShart
So the fact that Toews was the captain of the team means he is not responsible? Especially if he knew what was being said to John Doe?

So some posters are defending Stan Bowman and some of the players? Oh and we are questioning the victim too.....but not questioning....but actually questioning?
If Toews heard other players making fun of the guy at practice about it and did nothing then that is on Toews. Same with Kane.
I don't care if Bowman was in his first year. He knew. He should have gone to Rocky and reported it since McD failed to act.
This poop continues to happen because people let it happen. |

That is 100% what the issue is - we don't know if he was involved or knew it was happening. If he heard some comments and shut them down, is he still the bad guy or did he do the right thing? |

Sadly I don’t think this is over!!! I fear some, even many players knew of it. What’s worse is some (unfounded) comments suggesting some players joked on the victim. Not good! - kwolf68
They were in the complaint filed by the victim. Not sure if the Jenner and Block team investigation got this topic. But it should. The players should not be excused from the same exacting scrutiny faced by everyone.
Sopel claims everyone knew about it. One word from Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook or Hossa to the press during the San Jose series would have changed everything. If Stan had an obligation to push McD, so did the players. And those guys wouldn't have faced near the risk, given how good they were. But what happened instead? Some hazed the victim, and the rest did nothing. |

There's too many what if's here. We don't know what was really said, we don't know how much players actually knew, at this point, speculation isn't too helpful.
We would need a full blown investigation beyond the 107 page report for more facts to make more solid opinions. |

As the team's captain it's his responsibility to know everything that can impact the team's performance. It's pretty clear that this entire nightmare could have been avoided if someone with some guts did the right thing and called for a proper investigation over a decade ago.

On page 53 of the report. To me, so far, the only real deal scumbag/felon is Aldrich, based on quotes attributed to him.
Others mishandled the situation. To their credit, the Blackhawks have removed them from the Blackhawks organization. |

For the love of god, please read the report...you will see the answer to your first question and a refutation of Sopel's assertion. |

That’s why I say “not good”. Sopes comments are damning. Very sad. I mean not one guy in that room stood up and said “(frank) this, this is wrong”. Not one guy stood up. - kwolf68
What bothers me is today Soplel is claiming everyone knew yet at the time he did nothing. He can’t very well be critical now, can he? |

Yes, we would need a statement of fact from Doe on who was harassing him and who, if anyone, knew and either looked the other way or stood up for him. He doesn't seem inclined to name names, so we are left with speculation and what we know already about the individuals involved. |

Imo hawks should have been punished more lost of draft picks in the upcoming draft and a steeper fine more like 20 million instead of 2 million. As for president if hockey operation shero Rutherford be good candidates as for gm Gorton, Lou's son, weeks , and dare I say Mcguire could all be consider. What names are out I would like to know |

I guess not. But if he is "coming clean" then should we not respect that? At this point in regards to the players "I don't know", thus I removed my post casting them in a negative light until more information is known. |

"If":he knew.
So do tell, what exactly/specifically did he know or say? You want more skin - go nuts.
Everyone was "so excited" for him to be the youngest Capt. - maybe he wasnt quite ready for that responsibility? People mature an evolve.
"IF" he said/didnt "say" something...that's not for me judge as nothing is in the report about Toews (or Kane) doing anything
I understand it makes people feel better and they always want more blood....so the door is open for you to continue picking at the carcasses
Have at it 👍 |

Carcillo:"I was on the Philadelphia Flyers playing the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010," wrote Carcillo on Sunday. "We heard the whispers of what Aldrich did. Hard to believe that most people working in the organization didn't know."

Thanks. Great memory on this one.
With all the turmoil, no Kane or Toews, think we are going to get pasted tonight against a fired up Leafs team.
Of course, I have tickets to the game. - Popsghostly
Same, although at least I won’t have to watch Khaira play. That guy will be out of the league in two years. Got to hope Dach and Debrincat can force this team into relevance. The Leafs got beat by a Pittsburgh team with no Crosby, Malkin, or Letang. If only the Hawks had a coach who inspired such heart. |

I truly can't imagine what the current team is going through.
My best guess is they lose tonight 10-0 or win the game. No in between. |

It is not about wanting more blood. It is about finding out who else knew and did nothing. The "not for me to judge" attitude is exactly why this occurred. People in the organization turned a blind eye to it and/or did not take any actions other than going up the chain of command. The "I did my part I reported it to my superior" doesn't fly with me and it shouldn't with anyone else.

He puts himself out there as Mr. Social Justice warrior on twitter. Maybe that is for personal validation than any real social conviction?
