I didn’t see anything from him to think he was going to bounce back. Glad I was wrong (hopefully)

Other than getting caught napping for one goal against vs. Calgary I haven’t seen Mercer have a bad shift so far this season. Really excited about his future.

His analytics showed he was due for a nice bounce back season, it's why people like Todd and other big analytics people were heavily banging on the drum to not lose him this offseason. His defensive numbers were among the best on the team too.

I got flamed all offseason by some people on here for saying it wouldn't be ideal for us to let him go. Glad he's off to a good start, tons of season left though so hopefully he can keep it up

His position off the puck is good and he does a good job finding open space in the offensive zone to receive passes. Really impressed by his play so far and I hope he can continue building on this strong start.

I don't want to put the "steal of the draft" title on him but him falling to 18 seems like a real gift for us. Thinking about where this team would be with an injured Hughes and no Mercer isn't nice.

I remember seeing all the numbers, etc. but watching the games last year he just looked physically weak on the puck, unable to create space for himself, not particularly fast and getting pushed to the ice an awful lot. Hopefully that can be written off to recovering from Covid and this early season success is sustainable.

And it cost them there. Guess I jinxed him. Lol.

Especially bad for Johnsson because he is apparently asthmatic. With the amount of injuries and the entire team getting covid I'm willing to forgive a lot of the performances from last season.

Brutal penalty in the offensive zone completely changed the momentum of the game.

No argument on Sharangovic, but Nico has been fine. He's drawing the other team's top line on a nightly basis and holding his own. No Zajac line to shelter him anymore. Points will come when they get the lines more set and the chemistry builds.

Last night we had a weak 3rd period, hopefully different tonight even though it's a back to back.
