What should be done then?

a strongly worded apology that they are sorry that they tried to cover up sexual assault for years and ruined someone life.

avery got suspended right away by the nhl for "sloppy seconds"

why was q behind the bench 30 hours after it came out?

is saying sloppy seconds more offensive then what a person hired by an nhl team did to beach ?

- homiedclown

I totally agree with you that this league in particular is awful with consistency, especially as it relates to punishments.

From my previous post: In my mind, apologies, support to the victim, and changing the culture are the only things that can be done.

Ruined more than just someone's life. If something was done that high school kid would never have been assaulted as well.

And that is not on Kyle Beach to do more like he said in his interview. He took it to management and it went all the way to the top and nothing was done.

Disgusting how all they are trying to do is just apologize now.

An apology right now is not

"Im sorry that it happened"
its
"Im sorry that we got caught"

Then answer your own question. What should be done?

I don't know what else can actually be done at this point. If going back in time and changing things was an option, then that would be my answer.

If I'm Beach, I'm burning the (frank)ing thing to the ground. The stench is going to spread far and wide. Q and Chevy are the 1st ones to be shown the door never to be seen again. There should be no excuse for the "I didn't know" statement. That's BS and everyone knows it is. Eventually someone will come clean and throw everyone under the bus. I'm willing to bet there are a lot of players calling their respective legal representation to see how they can cover their asses.

Surprised by how many people's response is "anyone who knew or was involved should be banned from everything forever!" The fault starts at the top. They are ultimately responsible for doing the right thing. According to the investigation, that falls on John McDonough. Anyone else who knew in management, again according to the report, pushed it up the ladder to their immediate supervisors. Should these people have done more? Yes. However, the report states that the team did not follow its own policy for sexual assault allegations. That falls ultimately on McDonough, but also on any type of HR arm of the organization. Banning anyone and everyone associated with the team at that time to the flames of hell is an overreaction. It's more important to get this information out there and setup the means to prevent this from happening again. The people that ultimately made these decisions need to bear the responsibility, but that's not as wide of a shot as most people are making it out to be.

I think the Hawks, even though way too late, finally did the right thing to remove the executive team that was around at that time. Unfortunately, outside of that, there isn't much more that can be done. You can't change the past, but you can take action to ensure that this doesn't happen again. It's much more productive to make the changes than to argue about who is most to blame. It is an embarrassing day for humankind, particularly in sports.

My two cents. There are people who disagree. We're not all going to agree on everything. However, I think we can all agree that the product on the ice still stinks after last night.

The report says that HR tried to step in but the decision was made by the leadership team to address it after the season.

A lot of things should be done.

Get rid of anyone that tried to sweep it under the rug. Doesn't matter if its a coach or in management or the owner of the frankin team.

Scratch the names of those who were involved off the Cup.

Fine your scum bag organization more than 2 million.

I'd take away your first round picks for the next 10 years. I'd fine every individual at least half their salary from the date it took place till now.

And whatever else seems reasonable as you ruined not only Kyle beaches life and career. But then let the scum bag go do the same disgusting bs to a high schooler.

I'd also force your organization to change their name like Washington in football and Cleveland in baseball.

Apologizing is literally the worst thing you can do at this point. It means nothing. It represent nothing other than fact that your scum bag organization got caught and are sorry they got caught.

What really surprised me is that Beach said he took it to the NHLPA and they didn't do anything either. WHY NOT . . . because Beach wasn't a "star" player ?? Is Fehr in bed with Bettman ?? Who's best interest is Fehr looking out for ??

If Im beach, im going after Chicago, Fehr and the League in one lawsuit.

Make them all testify that they knew, expose them all including Bettman and maybe he finally is forced out.

I like the phrase "whatever else seems reasonable." Your suggestions stopped being reasonable from the draft picks comment on down. Changing the team name is irrelevant to this situation. A discussion for a different day. Throwing everything at the wall to see if it sticks makes me think you are so mad that you can't think straight. Or just an angry person in general. Breathe.

I strongly disagree that apologizing means nothing. I have to believe at least some of the people apologizing are sincere. People make mistakes and I'm sure at least some of these people know they f'ed up big time and genuinely feel remorse.

Your suggestions do not present positive steps to prevent this from happening again or provide support to the victims. Beach's goal in coming forward at all is to enact change to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Clearly we are not even close to the same page on this. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respectfully disagree with yours, as you disagree with mine. We can both agree that this is absolutely terrible and something no one wants to see happen.

From Beach's interview last night: "I think that the step the Blackhawks took yesterday is a great step in the right direction. They accepted accountability and they took actions necessary, albeit too late." Also: " the NHL denied an investigation. They wanted nothing to do with it, they didn’t want to touch it. USA Sport also denied doing an investigation."

That's insane.

NJ was penalized more for trying to sign Kovy to a contract than the Blackhawks were for covering up sexual assault for 10 years.

Nobody is sorry, if they were sorry they would have come clean on their own before they were forced to.

Nobody is doing the right thing here, they are doing what they are being forced to do because the story finally came out.

In a direct reply to you, I agreed that the NHL punishments are wildly inconsistent, whether that be financially or suspensions. I agree with this.

Your opinion is that no one is sorry. Mine is that at least some of them actually are.

You keep mentioning that you know definitively that no one is actually sorry. If you have anything to support that other than an opinion. I don't have any support on my opinion that some of them are sorry. Just my belief that there are more good than bad people out there.

This. You gotta remember, some of the older players on this team have kids nearing or just entering adulthood. YOu can bet more than just Boynton and Sopel are preparing to speak up.
As for the guys teasing Beach about it.....(frank) em.
