Sandin and Dermott have been good.

They have even taken some mins off of Muzzin and Holl.

If it keeps up they will take even more.

- Santo_44

I'm convinced Muzzin is playing with a nagging injury. Holl is not very good but the Leafs have no one else who can move up into his position in the lineup.

Dermott hasn't been "good" he's been his usual, mediocre self. He's not actively terrible but he isn't "difficult" to play against and he provides zero offence.

Sandin, I think, has been pretty decent for a rookie-level defenceman and his physicality has been a nice surprise.

The part that's lost in this discussion is how we get our top line out for an offensive zone faceoff after an icing against their 4th line... And its in our (frank)ing net within 10 seconds. 🤦🏻‍♂️
- joel878

Hard to blame Matthews - he won the draw cleanly. Could blame Bunting a little, Lorenz was his man (Lorenz is a marginal NHL player and that is being kind, he makes Fredrick Gauthier look like a super star) The Dermott giveaway is the worst part for me, he was given the puck on a silver platter and made a shot attempt that was blocked for a nearly clear breakaway. Sandin should have played the man not try to go for the puck with his stick and made a bad mistake, Campbell should have had that dribbler.

Still not even close to the reason the Leafs lost that game. Campbell was excellent and made several great saves before and after that goal, Leafs only allowed 3 goals. Power play was stinky, top two lines did not get shots on goal. Spezza had 5 of the Leafs 25 shots playing mostly 4th line minutes.

Liljegren was beat multiple times

So was Muzzin. So was Rielly. So, I'm sure, Dermott would have been.

Not sure why everyone hates Dermott.

Fewest shots against/60

1 of the highest shots for/60

He seems to be doing the job the coach puts him out there to do.

I’m more worried about the top 4 at the moment, maybe drop Holl and bump Dermott up to see if that helps Muzz a bit.

For me, it wasn't just Sandin at fault on the 2nd goal and you are pinning that goal strictly all on him.

anyways will have more to complain about later tonight I'm sure of it.

- dmnted

Let me shorten this up for you

Sandin is good

But he’s also pretty much a rookie

And it shows

A couple more years and he’ll be solid as hell

Yeah I agree with all of this.

To me it's not one of those plays that really requires picking out particular players to blame. It should be a smash spot to threaten for a goal, instead it's 200 feet the other way and in our own net with a finger snap. It's just an overall perfect example of why we are where we are. 🤦🏻‍♂️

All I've been saying was that none of it would have happened if Dermott made a safer play at the Hurricanes blueline..

Anyways, its done now.. I'm not gonna talk about it anymore..

That's a decent idea. I mean it can't hurt.

I'm not opposed to breaking up Rielly and Brodie as well and see if more balance throughout the pairings can come through as a result.

If you could trade top to bottom rosters and prospects with the red wings right now, would you do it?

Well I certainly hate his cornrows and his banana hammock.

Sometimes I even hate his hockey’ing but I don’t think he’s played too bad.

I don't hate Dermott -- I just don't get how anyone thinks he's anything more than a fringe, mediocre piece.

I mean, I guess his Mom might call that "hate", but I don't spend a Holl lot of time thinking about him.

It may be worth experimenting with swapping Holl with Dermott but I'm not sure if that would translate to tangible results. I don't think I really want to see Dermott playing 20+ mins a game but maybe, just maybe, he's better than Holl?

Clearly, Keefe believes Lilybust isn't quite there yet and that Dermott is the better option. But I don't think Dermott moves the needle in that 7-1 blow out loss.

Since Lilybust is waivers exempt he's not going to get much of a look this season.

Holl is fine as the 4th guy. Problem with that pair as of late is Muzzin constantly leaving Holl to defend on his own by trying to skate with the puck.

Was directly involved in it just as Bowman was...Bettman meeting with him face to face...not looking good for him.

Investigation found Bowman, MacIsaac, McDonough, Jay Blunk, Kevin Cheveldayoff and Joel Quenneville and James Gary met in May 2010 to discuss Aldrich's alleged assault and took no action for 3 weeks.

One witness said the decision was left in McDonough's hands, Schar says.

All these guys are collectively (frank)ed.

The fact the NHL and the Panthers are letting him coach tonight is a brutal message to send.

The NHL has a limitless capacity to bury its head in the sand and embarrass itself.
