Even though I won’t insist any longer I still believe Matthews won’t stick around. Especially if the leafs start rebuilding even in a minor way.
He also has openly admitted his fav team is the coyotes. I still won’t be shocked if he heads back home to play for them after his contract is up if the leafs don’t try to move him beforehand. - Dozzer
That before or after they wnd up moving to Houston?!?! 🤣🤣🤣
I dunno if he will or not but clearly need some big bold moves. I think reset more than rebuild but…
Exactly. Now here we completely agree. And given center is the hardest position everyone hunts/drafts for? Matthews and Snake aren’t going anywhere. Which leaves Marner and Nylander. Something has to give there - Roadrunner75
You’re going to have to pry my Willy from my cold, dead hands before you trade him instead of Marner.

If Arizona gets the 1st overall pick they can have Matthews.
Of course, I would want more than just that. They have 3 1sts, and 5 2nds this year. lol
Yeah. Still dont think they will stay and be there long. Hockey hasnt really thrived/worked there at any level historically. Dad played there no less 🤣

I’m honestly curious if the leafs will move him this summer or after next season but before July 1st when the NMC kicks in
Without him signing long term I guess, I just don’t expect it. - Dozzer
did he specifically say he wanted to play in ARZ?
because if he did, what gm would trade for him knowing that? maybe as a rental, but his value sure would take a hit.
Oh i dont think hes staying in toronto and they do live part time out west, i just pointing out where her home is
Hyman went to play with mcd, theres no mcd in Vancouver - Fakepartofme
Hyman left Soley due to money, had nothing to do with McDavid IMO

I said the day Marner signed his extension that he would not finish that contract in Toronto. For a lot of reasons, mostly... He can't live up to that salary and once they realize they can't break through with so much money invested up front Mitch is the slam dunk out.
Because willie is a steal at his money, JT is as locked in as you can get, and Matthews is a franchise player. That's the difference between Auston and Mitch. Marner may be elite, but Auston is a FRANCHISE player.
I think they throw everything they can at Matthews, and I think he takes it. Because he's big on his lifestyle and he didn't attain that by being a nobody in Arizona.
I believe they'll let Matthews walk before they ever even think of trading him, if for nothing else because they will choose at the deadline that an extra 2-3 months to convince him to stay is worth the risk he walks. That's how much he means to this organization, he is THE guy.
It's for these reasons and more I gotta take the opposite on the betting side of this one with ya. 😉
Im interested in where they play in the interim. Because even if this goes through, and that's a huge if... They do not have an ice sheet for next September.

I think differently. Could be why Matthews has been out on the video game cover twice now, the owner wants to build a new rink there, obviously it won’t be said openly but they want who is essentially the 2nd best player in the league to play down there and help sell the game.
I’ll admit it’s a guess, however if the leafs aren’t on the brink of winning a cup he’ll go home to the states and play for a competitor down there or his home area favourite team.
For some odd reason I need to listen to this once in a while...
Lyrics explained: "As for the lyrics, the most common interpretation is that “Fade Into You” is about having an unhealthy obsession with someone who is somewhat damaged and not capable of true affection. It is a bittersweet song, because naturally, such an affection can only end in heartbreak and disappointment."
- sort of being a hockey fan most of the time...?
By the time hes up for an extension he will have played in Toronto for... 8 years?
Dude can make as good or better money here, playing in one of the biggest hockey markets on earth, before he even touches endorsements that have no cap.
They'll be dangling the C in front of him, he'll be on the cusp of breaking franchise records in between partying with Beiber and Kylie Jenner.
Or, he could go home to Phoenix to a franchise that can't pay their janitors in a city no one even recognizes him if they still exist. 🤷🏻♂️
