Questioning if the was the right pick when he was severely struggling is now hating.

- ImThatGuy

When was this? When he was injured?

He's now playing healthy and has 4+2 in 3 games

He wasn’t the right pick. He’s also going to be a pretty good player. I’ve maintained this from day 1, and I think everyone else has for the most part

How has Hagg looked so far?
- hello it's me 2050

He fills the physicality void left by Risto. He blocks a lot of shots. He's a fine 3rd pair guy

would his tallness succeeding at center in a top-six/nine role change that for you?

Drew Stafford had a solid career.

It’s not a slant. Stafford was a 25 per 82 goal guy for a good 8-9 years in the league.

Before Peterka, when was the last time the Sabres made out on a draft day trade where moving up became the right choice? Remains to be seen who is the better player between Bordeleau and Peterka.. but in 2016 we moved up for Asplund by using Pisser. Mascherin isn't in the NHL so that's a W.

In 2014, Washington got Vanacek for Brycen Martin and Eric Cornel. So that was coolio.

In 2012, we got Girgensons for Jankowski and Patrick Sieloff. So that worked out I guess.

In 2008, we got Myers for Teubert. That's a win.

So I'd say our record in the past 15 years for pick swapping at the draft has been.. pretty ok.

When was he severely struggling?

The couple of preseason games he played in this year or the covid-shortened, injury-shortened 15 games he played in the AHL last season? 😂

He only had over 25 once and never sniffed it again.

He was realistically a 20 goal guy for maybe half his career. 7 seasons he could have had 20.

Thats a slant at the great Jack Quinn.

Stafford had 22 goals and 44 points in his only 34 AHL games at 20 years old.

He was a good player and not a bust at pick 12.

If we picked Quinn 12th there wouldn’t be much of a discussion here

But the undefeated Florida Panthers have a point per Game Center ….in the NHL….that they took a few picks after us

HATER!

I was in the Rossi camp. I don't get too worked up over good or bad games or starts to the AHL. I feel Rossi will still be the better player, but Quinn will be a good NHLer. It does speak volumes that in a couple redrafts, JJP is ahead of Quinn. I will gladly be wrong, and no back peddling needed, I hope I am and Quinn is Nylander for us. Would be nice.

I'd take Leon over Sam, Necas over Mitts, Sergachev over Nylander, Horvat over Risto

I mean you can go back to almost any pick at any draft over the last 10-15 years and select a better player.

Not the way I like to look at my players though.

I wouldn't have picked Quinn either and didn't think we were going to.

Develop the guys we have the best we can so they become the best player they can be. Its really the only option now.

Difference with these are it took a couple years to realize this. People (myself included) are calling this now, a year ago, poop when he got drafted. This is not a slight on him as a player, even though you will take it that way. This is saying I see the talents that the other guys are showing and have showed and it appears they have higher upsides. Again, I will gladly take being wrong.
