On another note sounds like the Blackhawks had a really good practice yesterday and will be able to evacuate the middle of the ice even faster tomorrow night.

If that’s true, he should be stripped of his A with the Hawks.

That would be acting the exact opposite of how you want a “Captain” to act.

- Ogilthorpe2

Agreed, and it's not in his general hockey character. Not even sure it would be a conscious decision, but I would expect his last chance to play in the Olympics and medal is a priority for him.

I actually believe he thought what he did was proper, just as his statement says. From the report, he didn’t pull what Q did with the I don’t recall exactly what I saw, heard or said.
- LAHawk
I tend to agree- he was in his first year as GM and told the team president, his boss, what was going on. I could understand that he considered the matter handled from his end.

Which I’m sure would lead to litigation - which is the last thing the Wirtz’ want - which is why I would guess they made a settlement.

Agreed.
I wasn’t necessarily speaking about Stan. Just stating a clause used frequently

Ruderford- not necessarily my pick

Kane's last Olympics? He's playing at 38.

With training these days, Kane will easily play until 40 (barring injury, of course)

I wonder if Kane's former rommie calls now in Kevyn Adams

It's going to get very interesting to see what they do

Do they fire JC and bring in a vet coach now - like the Astros did with Dusty - simply to "handle it" ? Like if Torts was the coach and began getting asked, he may change the "narrative" quick

Or stay status quo all year with interim GM and JC?

Hopefully it means Jones is booted, too. He has no business on the team. There are at least 7 US d-men better than him.

Actually ten years ago at the company I was employed at we had meetings explaining how we were to report any harassment, bullying or verbal abuse to our direct supervisor or manager who in turn was to report it upwards. It was the responsibility of the person reporting it to follow up. This was done because his immediate supervisor was to email HR and the executive committee and Cc: the person who reported it to him. If the initial person did not receive this email it was his/her responsibility to directly report the issue to HR and the executive. We were told it’s everyone’s responsibility to follow it through and ensure the issue isn’t “forgotten “.

Not saying Stanbo couldn't have done more but I've been in a biz sector for 20 some odd years that is ridiculously compliant and you are essentially supposed to report it to your direct superior or someone above them and possibly an ombudsman.

That's what it says in the videos though I'm still not quite sure what an ombudsman is or does.

I believe Q has a meeting with Betteman on his calendar

I would expect his career may be winding down.

- PatShart

So how do you think this went from Bettman on down the line when the lawsuit became public news in the media? Because as Commissioner, he was definitely going to start with the owner of the team.

Did he say or accuse Rocky of knowing all about it and not sharing any the info with Head Office so a damage control plan could be developed? Did he instruct Rocky to immediately get the investigation going, what firm to hire and then make the findings public? And if bad things were in the report, get rid of everybody who was party to the problem?

Bettman is a demanding, no nonsense, hands on guy and the owners do what he tells them to do, they don't get out of line like many of the NBA and NFL owners do. Rocky wears this too but the tail is being pinned on the donkeys at lower levels. The $2M fine is quite amusing.

Here is another thought...maybe we are looking at the offseason the wrong way.

Maybe it was Bowman who convinced Wirtz to spend the money on FA's because he thought if the team was playing great it might save his job knowing what had happened. I'm not into conspiracies but it kinda makes sense...

- NamedSources

Bob would disagree that you are not into conspiracies.

To build a new reality …

This isn’t the first time you’ve quoted them. You sound as if you’re as big a fan as I am.

- paulr

He's quoted Rush and Depeche Mode almost in consecutive days. Both great for different reasons and both bands I never figured Ogi to be a fan of based on his posting.

Who knew?

The entire situation is just so sad and disappointing. But they need to wear it. Any/all, unfortunately.

Its so hard (even after the detailed report) with these, for me. You always expect better.

Hopefully they continue to remove the people involved from leadership positions like this.

After reading, definitely changes it from a potential police matter to an internal HR matter at that time.

It's also clear that the three guys who tried to put themselves in the middle of the story as heroes and who have been highlighted repeatedly in Westhead's ongoing reporting might be glory seekers (wannabe white knights) rather than actually directly involved.

I hate that because the claims they made like "everybody knew" are the ongoing (and probably forever) talking points when the Hawks are mentioned. Kind of like "rapist" being the first reply on almost every Kane tweet to this day. The pitchfork and torch crowd was temporarily deflated for about 10 min after the news of Stan leaving broke. Then they turned on the players who were on that team, demanding they be removed from the league.

- pdx2ord

Yep, that was me. It's okay to direct it at me.

The complaint alleges that players the next season crudely taunted the victim. If we're going to go after the people who harmed the victim.....

Or was that just boys being boys?

So Stan "stepping aside" means his contract is void?

(just thinking about the discussion yesterday re: Hawks owners not wanting to spend money on dual GMs or coaches)

- pdx2ord

More likely he made a deal.
