I havent watched a second of the Oilers play...but a quick glance at the stats....they are not killing it..5v5 is pretty average...doesnt strike me as a dominant team..so far - senstroll
Reminds me of the Habs team that finished first in the conference, led by Kovalev and Markov.
We had the best powerplay in the league by far and kept winning games despite very bad/average 5 on 5 play.
We ended up losing in the playoffs in the first round despite cruising through the regular season.
Oh and the opposite also happens, Habs had one of the best 5 on 5 stats in the league and missed the playoffs in 18-19.

Not meant to be the great fix but I'd also get Kase into the top6. Maybe Kerfoot bumped back to Kampf's line.
That line is taking all the DZ face-offs ....no chance for offense at all. I think Kase needs to get a chance at those tasty OZ minutes the top6 are getting.

Thats what I was saying before yesterdays game. Kerfoot is not a top 6. I cant believe Dubas let McCann go, that was an awful move.

I didn't actually watch the game, as my daughter was on the ice (thank you!).
So just for fun, I challenge everyone to describe to me the Leafs' game last night in one sentence.

Couple decent saves but Fred really didn't have to do much in the grand scheme of things. |

The Montreal series completely mentally broke 90% of this team and they can't hockey anymore. |

Leafs are 2-1 against Canadian teams. And 0-3-1 against American teams. hmm… - Steven_Seagull
Also, 2-1 without Matthews, 0-3-1 with.
25-14-2 without Matthews all-time. +36 goal differential.
Go figure.

they will wake up soon enough and come back charging to secure a playoffs spot at the end and will end up playing one of the top team in the conference in the 1st round |

I know the narrative this year was that the regular season doesn't matter, and the only thing that matters is what they do in the playoffs.
They are going to be life and death to make the playoffs this year. |

The only D with a decent passing touch so far has been Sandin.
He's predictably struggled with turnovers and coverage but his vision has been a breath of fresh air for that blue line. Muzzin, Brodie, Rielly and Holl have been consistently missing tape.
I think teams are clogging the neutral zone more and more against the Leafs. Puck movement and zone entry has looked awkward at best. |

Ah! Jokes on you, he doesn't have any value.
Seattle could have had him for FREE and decided to pick a guy they sent to the AHL instead.
He's in Montreal forever. |

At the risk of sounding like a sick bastard, I would absolutely love to see the Habs trade Price while he's off on medical leave for mental health (which can't actually happen for a number of reasons).
Could you imagine the media coverage? |

fully agree but he has 2 NMC, his salary (unstoppable force) and an actual NMC (immovable object), he is not going anywhere even if they wanted to. |

I will approve this trade only if Evander Kane can't speak a lick of French. |
