Signing Skinner wasn't the wrong move.
Waiting to sign him until after the year was.
Regardless, he absolutely will score 20 goals again. But he will mostly be a 20-goal, 40-50 point guy until the contract is up. Maybe he stays and plays it out, who knows? - BeadyEyedDouche
If he was making 7 million now would he be worth it? He was already making close to 6 million and would have gotten a raise. No, letting him walk would have been the right move considering he played on the 2nd and 3rd lines in Carolina and had some good years and some not so good., his shooting percentage was higher then it would ever be again in his 40 goal year. He is a one-element type player, garbage goals. Not passing, assists, complete game.

As a card carrying member of the Skinner fan club, he’s been more bad than good since the start of his contract. It’s not great |

Sounds like a reason Vegas was willing to part with him. My .02 is that he has warts but he's good at manning the point in the offensive zone and he adds a touch of physicality. I'm ambivalent to him overall. He's fine for what he is: a 4/5 dman - Hank Balling
Appreciate the insight baller.
Miller has looked out of place and has the yips pretty bad.
Tank master if Samuelsson doesn't eventually take his spot.
Keep an eye out...
Not liking skimmers game to much either |

Would you rather have pat laine?
6 points in 5 games? |

We're always optimistic about draft classes, but I've had the same feel. 2017 is really shaping up, so is 2018. All of 2017 is in Rochester or Buffalo except Davidsson. 2018, the first 3/6 are in NY. Not sure about the last 3. 2019, the entire class may make it to Rochester at the very least.
The track record far exceeds anything Darcy and Murray did since Pommer and Roy were drafted. - TheSabresTaco
2017 draft has been a huge bust. Mitts underachieving. Davidson not anywhere when Robertson from Dallas taken two picks later . UPL looks like a bust too. How can anyone think that’s a good draft. |

Said it midway through the season we should of traded him before it came to us resigning him |

If we didn't resign him half the fan base would have lost their minds - hubie
If considering the fans opinions came into the minds of the people running our team, we wouldn't be in year 11 of rebuilding |

I had so much hope for this post until the end where you said we wouldn't be in year 11 of rebuilding. You are giving far too much respect to fans opinions. What did Marv Levy say. Something about if you listen to the fans it won't be long before you are sitting next to them. |

I'm guessing laine has a bit more value around the Nhl?
Sounds like someone is turning in their skimmer card? |

well like with any group there is always going to be a hierarchy and those who rise to the top and who think their opinions are better than others. If the fans were in charge Josh Allen wouldn't be a Bill, Rosen might be, for the Sabres Will Borgen would be in the top 4, Risto would have been traded for scubs, the beloved Reinhart would have been signed for a year and then let go for nothing. Yeah, there is too much emotion and ESPN, TSN and Twitter with fans. It would be worse than GMTM with fans selling off the future for players they always wanted but could never get.

From Harrington:
Veteran Brian Elliott will make his Lightning debut – and is 17-3-2, 1.88/.936 in his career against Buffalo.
That's a wild statline |

Meh - jochfr
How's this grab ya:
The two goalies tonight, Anderson and Elliott, are a combined 76 years old |

It's much more pathetic how they've done when they've actually claimed to be trying to be a good team. |

Well, probably true in most areas, but there's a few guys on here I would give a try with. |

Not touching on the Skinner situation, but I'm surprised so many are concerned with our salary cap situation. We have 15m in space, Okposo/Eakin/Butcher/Miller money coming off within another season and a lot of ELCs coming. Probably lose some long term cap in the Eichel trade from the sounds of it as well.
If we're up against the cap in 3 seasons it's because the kids all go nuts. |

Vegas is in bad shape, lost Patrick to a elbow injury last night and haven't scored on the PP yet this year. |

Sorry, but there's a good chance 5/6 play NHL games, that isn't a huge bust of a draft no matter how you slice it. |
