with hindsight, thats the way I see it

Simply not the case. At that point in time, there was no info that Patrick wasn't healthy and the Flyers had no idea that he would not be able to play the next season.

what a great day of banter here.
5 pages about a coach...
Not a mention about Tim Kerr but one guy...
Kerr was amazing!!!

Not one comment on Frost and the very real possibility he is a bust.

Love reading all of the bloviators here who think they are sooooo phucking brilliant and have all of the answers.

So school us bloviators and tell us why there is a very real possibility that Frost is a bust?

Ghost had the fewest minutes of any Zona defenseman in the game over the weekend. He was back up to 20 minutes for tonight's game and was a -2 with no points. Ghost being Ghost. Brian Elliot played tonight for the defending champs. He lost too.

Sure
Zero impact at the AHL in a meaningful way through, yes I know only 4 games.
He should at the very least have a goal, in my mind he should be unstoppable if he was an NHLer.
So maybe it is a possibility he is not the real deal. I hope he is not a bust.
Thanks for the engagement.

i think there was and I think the organization had an idea that Patrick was dealing with head issues but not to the degree they wound up being. I dont think they anticipated him missing 2 years nor do I think signing Hayes was a back up plan to Patrick being out. I think Fletch wanted Hayes as strong option down the middle, possibly as the 2 for a year as Patrick took the reigns. With that said, I think they saw Hayes as insurance for Patrick

I think he was subtracting G’s current cap hit

I foresee a 6ish deal for him somewhere. probably here? Maybe not.

I could see him going year to year with a NTC so he could go to a contender at the deadline and come home, helpful us get a pick in the process.

Lappy was a warrior on the ice, and it was a nice gesture by the Flyers to keep him in the organization once injuries ended his career, but I didn't think he was qualified to be an NHL assistant coach that fast. I feel he should have been a coach in the minors first and then work his way up to the NHL. Not sure if he will do well as the AHL head coach, but I hope for the best?

people have mentioned Frost’s abilities, pro and con, ad nauseam on this site.

You’ll find plenty of people who say he is young and missed almost two years of playing time, as well as others who are ready to throw their hands up in frustration

Can you provide any source that indicates that the Flyers made the move of trading for Hayes rights and signing him to a long term deal because of health issues with Patrick? The reality is at the time, the Flyers felt that Patrick was not ready hockey wise for the 2C spot and they needed another center.

Not going to happen. Giroux will want some security and is not a player that has to settle for a one year deal.

why don't you prove that they didn't? Prove the staff didn't know Patrick was having an issue

Not up to your level of Genius.
Why don't you explain to me why he is a blue chipper then.
I know two years blah blah blah.

I can remember a few really nice passes a few years back where I thought wow great vision and puck skills not so much recently.

We van check the tale of the tape end of year.
My bet will be, he barely gets a cup of coffee this year.

Easy.
Daily at practice coaches and hockey people saw he had an issue with the NHL game of hockey.
Similar to Frost situation and why they went out and signed multiple pluggers.

Thank you for proving my point. It seems as though you are bloviating.
My position is that Frost is a highly skilled player who missed a full calendar year of hockey and needs some time to get back up to speed. Playing on a poor team, which the Phantoms appear to be, doesn't help

Do you think that phantoms team has some talent? He is on a line with quality players no? Or are the flyers prospects just not that good?

Sabres defense looks better without Risto. Hagg even looks somewhat solid.

Oh boy, here we go with the bad team excuses. It seems to me if a player at the AHL level is actually destined to be a full time NHL player that he would dominate at the AHL no matter what type of team he is on. Granted, he has a coach probably telling the players to go out there and work hard with no structure, but you'd think he'd score at least once in 4 or 5 games(or whatever he's played in).
