Are you ok with them hiring him for that role?

Well what system do they play? You can hire others who will also run the same system as the main club.

I think we all want Lappy to succeed, is a critical job developing prospects. I'm not driving off the cliff yet, but I'm asking directions to it in case we're 25-30 games into this season and the results don't change from what we've seen. I've always wondered about his coaching abilities, considering how often his roles changed with the big club.
We're those changes made to move him around to get experience or were the decision makers trying to get different results? Time will tell if his skills are real.

I remarked previously that NAK is going to COST games if he persists in being a Canadian Terrorist on Ice. I queried at what point would he just cut his own lanyards and tumble out of sight.
I thought he was chancy. There's something loose in that noggin.
I agree with the comment of how the Bruins make careers of getting away with crap. The long run of cheap acts needs to be closed.

Has there been a player with as much slack as NAK? This is what, a couple seasons of penalty after penalty . Obviously some injuries right now but the depth is just not there and these young guys have done nothing to push him out of the lineup.

Im pretty sure NAK has relegated himself to the Cote suite at this point. Im betting we see a 4th line of Thompson centering MacEwen and Brown.

Marchand clips Girouxs leg and knees Provorov in the mid section, any fine or even a penalty?
- ClaudeFather

Marchand is a dirt-bag, I agree, but what does this have to do with NAK taking another stupid penalty in a tie game against one of the best teams in the league? NAK provides absolutely nothing to this team IMO, he cant shoot, he can't pass, he can't score, and when he does skate and get physical, he is in the box killing his team. I personally have seen enough of him.

Only 4 games in but last place in the Division right out of the shoot. Prob a good idea to win some games on this road trip so they don’t get buried early in what looks to be a very competitive Division.

Yes, I think once Hayes comes back, Laughton gets moved to 4C with Brown and MacEwen, which I think will be an upgrade to what we have right now on both the 3rd and 4th lines. Its only 4 games, but I have not seen a lot of chemistry on the Laughts-JVR-Lindblom line right now. All the scoring has been in the top 2 lines which is not completely bad, but you do need more out of your 3rd line.

Aube-Kubel has some skill and he plays with pace and gets in on the forecheck. That's why they like him. However you can't keep taking penalties as a 4th line player.

Tough test against the Oilers, its really impossible to completely shutdown MacDavid and Draisaitl, but you absolutely have to stay out of the box or they will kill you. They are hard enough to contain 5 on 5. The Oiler's weakness is their defense, so the Flyers have to get pucks down below the goal line and own puck possession in this game. If the Flyers have another game with 65% d-zone starts, they will get blown out!

Brown, but he can't play in Canada unless he has 14 days of quarantine, which means he will miss the Edmonton game.

The "system" AV plays isn't much for puck possession.

Ok, you tell me, when Hayes come back, who exits the lineup? MacEwen and Brown are both going to be in the lineup, AV confirmed that, so unless you are taking Laughts, JVR or Lindblom out, Thompson will sit.

I don't know if this is true. AV's system is to trap in the neutral zone to generate offense off of turnovers with a shorter ice, but I don't think this excludes winning the puck possession battle also. Found this description of AV's system online that i think is accurate:

AV hockey is really about two things: passing and overloading. AV definitely wants his guys making crisp passes and he wants them to be positionally outnumbering the opposition on one side of the ice. The idea is to limit the opponent’s time with the puck and hopefully generate a turnover. Ultimately if a turnover can be created, it’ll likely be an odd man situation since their aim is to outnumber the enemy at all times.

The flaw in this setup is that you leave the weakside of the ice exposed. If the opposition is able to get a cross-ice pass through, it can lead to odd man rushes in your goalie’s direction.

JVR had good chemistry with Farabee in the preseason, but they had to break them up because everyone can't play on the 2nd line. It seems the personnel on the 3rd line for this organization the last few years has been tough to get productivity out of. Patrick didn't move the needle there, hence his new team. Farabee and Allison both proved themselves on it, but the success got Joel to move up the line up, and Allison is on LTIR. I had thought losing Allison was a bigger deal then documented. He was giving the bottom 6 energy, was hard in the corners and was playing in the paint. He played with enthusiasm and was creating opportunities. Really don't like to say it, but they need more from Lindblom. He still hasn't returned to his game, and in a few months, may ask when he might. There isn't anyone on that line to carry the puck. Hayes can provide that kind of skill, but they will need another skill player on that line as him and JVR are more similar players. Everyone always critiques Laughton but forget he always being moved around whenever players are out of the line up.

The Flyers don't play a trap. Vigneault's system like pretty much every team is based on a 2-1 forecheck. Teams will play some sort of neutral zone forecheck situationally but no team these days plays a trap.

Allison is not on LTIR. He is on SOIR. I agree that the 3rd line doesn't have chemistry. They do need a puck carrier. I think Lindblom is fine individually. That line as a whole just doesn't have much chemistry offensively. You have two players who are forecheckers and net crashers in Laughton and Lindblom and then you have another player who can score but needs a set up guy. Hayes is a puck carrier and he may start out on that line when he comes back. We'll see.
