I think this is accurate. Maybe Borgy and Kubalik have been closest, but it is a universal problem.

Dave Ried had a really good breakdown of Kubiak's horrible multiple plays on 1 DET goal

I find it funny how daddy Bowman kept sending his spy down Barry Smith to report on Q...kept making him fire his assistants

Eventually running him out. Couldn't have Q breaking his record in CHI

Now they have these 3 jamokes, and nothing.

Reality check
Blackhawks since their last Cup: the good, the bad, the ugly. Not much good. A lot of bad. Now the ugly. How more ugly. Is the 2022 #1 lottery protected? Is there a stud dman in 2022 draft? But do we even have a shot to get him?

The state of Chicago sports teams sucks. For most part. Wh Sox kids failed. Can they get back up. Ptching is a big question mark. And hitting has some issues. Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks in poor shape.

I don't like basketball. Bulls gave up the future to be sort of good. Like maybe winning a round or two in playoffs. Maybe. Good coach. But I won't care or follow basketball.

Kubalik should have been sitting for a long time for that play. Bad pinch. Then fails to eliminate the goal scorer - his check - when standing 2 feet from him.

Another goal was on Toews. They have 3 on 3 coverage and he gets beat/loses position going to the net.

He'd be done on the PP1 for me. Not necessarily as a punishment. You don't do that to your Captain. But they have guys like Dach and Kubilak that can take that ice time from him and give him a break.

But Toews needs to be managed and IMO, his ice time this early after missing a year is ridiculous. Fatigue is usually the cause of mental mistakes, he rarely made in the past.

Tell him he will get defensive matchups and play PK. Let him get that part of the game going then ramp him up/see how he responds.

Unfortunately, lots of long COVID sufferers have cognitive issues (brain fog) that makes thinking on your feet just that much harder. Haven't noticed that obviously with him, just hoping he didn't develop that.

Agree with you that they should be meting out his minutes a little more judiciously.

I see a Patrick Kane for Jack (don't worry about my broken neck) Eichel trade coming. The dollars, the agent involved and the geography makes sense. Hold up is probably the great negotiator Stanbo trying to force the Sabres to take Strome and Gustafsson too.

Get it done Stan before Kyle Dubas jumps in and offers Auston Matthews for Eichel.

Looking at the stats tonight, McCabe actually was +1

Overall, Hagel has brought it each night. I would also mention Kubliak and Kane has been producing while hurt.

As far as my banter against Jones, as I have said before he’s been nothing for this team. The hawks were better last year in the first 6 games with less talent. We gave up too much and paid too much for a has been.

- Diamondhands

Hagel - he’s been the energy guy and puck hound we’ve expected - and at least he has 2 EV assists. He was -2 tonite.

Kane has not been giving the Hawks what they need from him - which is controlling his shifts, scoring goals, and setting up scorers on the PP and at EV. He has one point - an assist - at EV thru 5 games, and he’s not controlling his shifts.

You spend too much time worrying about Jones’ cost and contract - yeah, Stan gave up too much for him, and the contract seems excessive - but the first is a sunk cost, get over it - and the second is Rocky’s money and Bowman’s problem. His play has steadily improved through the first 5 games - he had very good games against NYI and Van - until tonite. Not a potential Norris finalist - which is what the cost to get him and the contract would make us look for - but he’ll be a quality player here.

And the first minus tonite was all on deHaan.

The Hawks were better last season thru 6 with less talent - but almost everyone here last season was playing much better than they have this season - including in goal - and we legitimately expected that adding Fleury, McCabe, Johnson, yes Jones, would make a big difference. It’s not all on one player.

I think it a lot to expect him at his age, taking a year off, and then expecting him to be line 1, PP1, PK1..all big faceoffs on day 1.

Why not take away PP1 minutes for a bit? He's been averaging 5 min a night on the PP. Could Dach or Kubalik handle those minutes?

Maybe then Toews can help/be better defensively...where the team is giving up 5+ goals a game

They were better last year, but they were only better in the 2nd game facing the same opponent.

And Lanky played really really well until Waite got his hands on him and convinced him to always be down on his knees now

Kane and Toews will be the only thing to put butts in the seats and will be PR'd as nostalgia. No way they trade them...in fact, I wouldn't be surprised of another overpay contract. Hawks are work 1.36 billion now....and those 2 are the golden geese.

But I could see at least 88 saying "thanks, but I got hockey to play" (even though some fools are claiming he is once again lazy, disinterested, etc)

Jonathan Toews on the letdowns: "When the bounces are going against us, we're letting it affect us too much." Says you get that "sinking feeling in your stomach." Need to be "mentally tougher."

I really don't see the point of talking about what this player did or what this player didn't do...until Colliton is fired...and hopefully Bowman soon after. It's time...it's over...How can the organization talk about accountability when clearly there is none for Colliton and Bowman.

Seeing the images of Colliton giving the players the dry erase board to draw up a play during a time out is inexcusable...it is jaw dropping ridiculous....and one of the reasons they fired Q was because no one was in the penalty box during a "Too many men on the ice penalty"....would Q ever do what Colliton did tonight??? I think we know the answer.

Pope asked JC to talk about that situation:

@BenPopeCST
I asked Colliton about this: “I don’t have all the best ideas, I'm open to coming up with something different. They had a pretty good play they drew up. If not mistaken, it just got deflected, Brinksy’s one-timer there. Nothing strange about that.”

Based on the reaction throughout the Hockeyverse, it would indeed seem to be unusual, but maybe it's not been for the Hawks since JC joined. Toews has done something similar, sans white board, a few times during other timeouts this year.

Crosby, right before they hired Sullivan?
- pdx2ord

And LMAO, where did the Pens get Sullivan?

I was there tonight. Every hawk player had a defender in their face in and around the slot. And I really don't know what the hawks are trying to do in their own zone, and I've got 15 years of coaching under my belt. All they are doing is running around. I imagine hearing the three stooges going woo woo woo.

I'm almost 70 and I had four 20 something year old Wings fans behind me chirping away at everything including me and my wife. Lot of class right there. And why was I still there at the end? I was hoping it would stop raining so hard but I got disappointed there too. Hopefully those kids have a (SAFE OF COURSE) miserable ride home in that rain.

The Chicago Sports World could make professional sports history tomorrow if somebody had some balls. Bears should be 1st to announce the FIRINGS of Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy.
Then, about an hour later, the Blackhawks should announce the FIRINGS of Stan Bowman and Jeremy Colliton !!!! ALL 4 NEED TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY !!!

Could be the GREATEST day in Chicago Sports HISTORY !!

I Just woke up.

Wasn’t the DuBois, Laine trade because the players were upset with their coaches?
