I get what you're saying but I'm not sure I'd qualify it as being "immature", sure there can be a lot of childish aspects to it, such as fans of opposing teams displaying ridiculous behavior to each other, but by your definition following a band you really like and going to their shows could also be considered immature, which I don't find is the case.
